I don't think this take is too far off. Take the team 2 years ago. Reverse that @ Murray State result (VERY similar to this game) and it helps our resume quite a bit.

Tournament teams win these types of games, and we haven't done that in the past. We won't get credit for a tough win, but it's one we need.

I wouldn't push my luck losing to Belmont and expecting an at-large, but I also don't see us winning enough (which is pretty much undefeated) to get an at-large. The margin for error is so small now that I fully expect it to come down to 3 days in St. Louis.

That being said, I think we win tomorrow night in a competitive game. Hopefully, we clean up some of the mistakes from opening night and it is a better game.

Got my tickets for the game and am heading down to the Belmont's Curb Center. Looking forward to watching the Birds take the court and come out with a big W! :clap: Need to be playing at a top level because the Bruins will be primed and ready to take down the Birds.

As an ISU alum and living in Nashville I will be in attendance tonight rooting hard for the Birds. I am a Hardcore fan that has traveled to away games, many home games and the MVC for almost 30 years. This is a TOUGH game vs. a legit opponent that is 52-7 at home in the past 5 years. ESPN has them with a 62.5% of winning and we are 3 point dogs. I have no idea what some people are smoking on this board simply talking about an OVC team? Why are some automatically assuming we win this game? Forget the conference, this team is good and we’ll coached. Did ANYONE see Loyola making a Final 4 when they came into the MVC from a half crap conference?? I agree that we need this game to build a resume, but this is similar to the Furman vs Loyola matchup. The difference being that we are on the road and based on the new selection criteria would garner is major points with a road win. I don’t think last night’s Loyola loss ends their at-large possibilities nor do I think a loss to Belmont would completely crush ours. As long as both teams have 20+ win seasons this would not be considered a “bad” loss (especially on the road). We could use it to push us over the edge though. My family and I will be there tonight and loud in support and I feel good, but this is a tough matchup. This could be a defining moment. Go Birds!!!!!!!!

:text-+1: This game seems to worry me more than I would have thought a few months ago. ISU hoops seems a little less prepared\ cohesive at this point than I expected them to be after having these players practicing together for two years . Combine this with the ongoing Milik noise and injuries and it is unsettling. Would like to see them come together tonight without any unnecessary distractions and just go out and play a solid game and get a big W.

They return Windler who is the OVC preseason player of the year. They have a couple of other key contributors back but they also have so many freshman of which some will have to play contributing roles. I like our depth and experience to outlast them especially since this is their first game.
