I've stuck up for the kid here, but I'll betcha Hein is one of the casualties. Pure speculation.

Why should Hein be punished for giving it his all and playing the minutes he is asked? I don’t think removing Hein’s scholarship fixes the issues with this team. Why not point the finger at the coaching staff who plays Hein all those minutes and exposes him at times? We replace Heins scholarship with another hustler and we then start complaining about all the minutes that kid is receiving. This team never going to be full of 12 blue chippers, so you need the Matt heins towards the bottom of the roster. It’s the coaches job to put the kids in the situations to make the team most sucessful.

Maybe it's because he's taking a valuable scholarship and is the worst offensive player in the league (Tinsley and Madison near the bottom as well). Not to mention Hein has the 2nd worst TO ratio in the league.

http://www.barttorvik.com/playerstat.php?link=y&sIndex=28&minusage=0&minGP=0&minORtg=0&mineFG=0&minTS=0&minOR=0&minDR=0&minAst=0&minTO=100&minBlk=0&minStl=0&min2P=0&min3P=0&minFT=0&minftr=0&minht=0&maxht=100&minftm=0&minfta=0&minthreepm=0&minthreepa=0&mintwopm=0&mintwopa=0&sortToggle=0&yvalue=All&cvalue=MVC&tvalue=All&year=2018&minmin=40&c=0&top=351&kw=&start=20171101&end=20180501&ppg=-10

and he is ranked 2130 out of 2139 players in the country. When there are only 9 players worse than you in the country and you are starting....it's a problem.

Stop providing statistical evidence to prove your point. You sound logical and that doesn’t float well on this Board. Hein for President 2020.

Someone should be fired at ISU for the terms of Dan's deal. I am all for giving Dan a multi-year contract but for *%&$#* sakes get something for ISU in return.

The reasons for "that someone" to be fired are mounting, but I doubt he will be. They're just going to wait for him to retire..... it's a very frustrating situation, that personal friendships are hurting the chances of advancing the athletic dept/university.

I've always wondered on here what jobs people work? I don't know many jobs out there that allow you to be terrible and don't fire you.

Also, how do I get a job that has such low expectations that I can get a free ride?
I'd ask the same of you. I work for a Fortune 1000 company and "sucking" isn't enough to fire someone, without gross misconduct. There are Improvement Plans, mentoring, reassignment of duties to do something else. Firing is never the first option for "you aren't doing the job".

Quinn agree with most of your points but I would hope that Muller has been mentoring all players, and in someways already had Hein (and some others including Milik) on an improvement plan. Do not agree one has to be reassigned before they are fired. In the end the last point does not matter as we can not assign a men's bball player to the Women's bball team or to the wrestling team :D .

You can't tell me you haven't seen a marked improvement in Hein's game.

That’s because he couldn’t get any worse! He was a 0 last year, now a 2. But that doesn’t mean that he belongs on a division 1 court.

Wow. We've gone from "Fire Dan! Fire Dan!" to "Extend him! Extend him!" to "We didn't give him enough $$!" to "Do whatever it takes to keep Dan!" to "Fire Dan! Fire Dan!" since just before the beginning of last season.

This fanbase needs some meds for manic-depression.

I have to say that I’m fired up that we have gotten to this point. I love this program...and want them to get to the next level. We thought that with Wichita leaving we had a chance to be the next Creighton/Wichita. That doesn’t look to be happening anytime soon.

It’s a sad statement about the Pantagraph, when the Vidette provides more fair and balanced coverage of the Redbirds. IMO, the Pantagraph is the ISU athletic department lapdog. The only entity that gets even more kid glove treatment from the Pantagraph is State Farm.

Except for this statement: "The Panthers shot a blistering 47-percent from the field."

Blistering? Oops. Or maybe he features sarcasm in his game write up.

It does get kind of comical, Bird Friend and Humdinger.

I never know if winning is going to be a good thing with some of this group. Heck, one poster wrote they wish we lose tomorrow so we can start tearing things down! So losing might be good and winning bad. Sheesh.

Good reporting by them in the article. Failing to see your fair and balanced connection between them and Panty though based on it. Both articles a pretty much similar.

Effective FG% (factoring in made 3s) was 59%. Pretty good. The 25-0 seemed blistering.

25-0 run, yeah, ya got that right. Blisters combined with screen door diarrhea...
