I'm fine with it. We had a good X's and O's coach before in Judson and Muller refused to listen to him. It's great he has experience, but only works if Muller allows him to help.

They still need to can Duhon and bring in someone that can recruit. How is Duhon still on this staff?
Jesus, you're tiresome

Doesn't it get tiresome bitching about fans who bitch about a program that hasn't danced in 20 years? You attack the messenger when it's the message that should be addressed.

It's been 20 years really? I wish someone would have brought that up before.

Heck, I think it's 21 now.

He's a high-energy, fairly young Illinois guy who played, and coached in, the Valley, and has had success as a HC with Big Dance experience.

Not sure where the bad lies in that...

Why? Seems to be the perfect mentor for where we are headed under Muller...

Here is the problem. All the donors are leaving the program minus the 100 or so left on this board. Not everyone donates to be a nice guy. I can donate to The Special Olympics and know that it’s a really special cause. It also doesn’t hurt that the other donation it a charitable contribution. Larry can raise the ticket prices on his spiraling program and watch the majority of the attendance drop.

It honestly send like you three are the ones freaking out thinking the program is dead and ISU should just for everyone or shut down.
Put away the crack pipe and maybe you will make some sense. I was commenting back to a poster about the thought of Hinson being an assistant so where are you coming up with shutting the program down? I am thankful ISU did not hire Hinson as it seems hinson is washed up and ready for pasture.

I am a big Brian Jones fan! He started The Rolling Stones for crying out loud. His guitar interplay with Keith Richards in those early years was something majestic to listen to.

I still blame Muller for his untimely death

Don’t see this as bad. He’s done more with less in ND. Prob not the easiest place to get kids excited about.

Yes indeed! There is no doubt about it even though Dan Muller wasn’t even born yet when Brian stepped into the swimming pool. Still Muller’s fault but let’s be clear about one thing. Dan Muller had nothing to do with Mick Taylor leaving the Stones so don’t blame Dan for that. I believe it was Larry’s fault.

Little known fact, Jones' home was known as Mueller Abbey in the county of Lyons.

I agree. I see this as a great x and o hire. Former head coaching experience at D1 level is helpful. I know when coach Walter at UE was hired, he hired 2 former head coaches on his staff, which has been helpful to him.

And had success too.

I think this is about as good a hire as we can make right now. You get someone who has been a head coach for longer than Muller and can help in those aspects of running operations. That frees Muller up to recruit more, as well as other coaches as well.

Jones' record is a little bit deceiving because some of his rough years, record-wise, were his first year or the multiple times they switched conferences.

Jones seems to check some of the boxes many have called for to help Muller improve:
  • HC experience
  • Success in building a program (and recruiting to a less than ideal destination)
  • Ties and contacts to Illinois schools/players
  • In game experience

Hard to consider this as anything but a solid addition. Will it be enough? I guess we'll see. He had one kid who committed there and also had an offer from the Birds, DeSean Allen-Eikens. DSE seems to fit the Muller mold. Also appears he verbaled but has has not signed his NLI as of yet.

Eikens was on campus at UND this spring and it seems he broke his leg. There are a few mentions of him on the UND MBB twitter page. He's also from North Dakota, though his hometown is five hours away from school.
