AD Larry Lyons was on WJBC this morning - he talked about the renovation of Redbird Arena and the Indoor Practice Facility. However, he also talked about the changes to Arch Madness - the ISU section will be behind one of the team bench's. The ScottTrade Center was renovated this past year - new seats, new scoreboard and a curtain for the upper bowl.

Lyons said NO upper bowl seats will be sold at Arch Madness - all lower bowl. He specifically mentioned people buying upper bowl tickets and sitting in the lower bowl - he said that practice has come to an end. You can hear the full interview on WJBC.com.

If I had known I wouldn't have gotten stuck in the upperbowl I may have taken advantage of one of those 4 tickets, 4 beers, and 4 hotdogs for 44 bucks or whatever it was. The curtain is probably a good idea until a team starts dominating again. I remember back to 2009(?) when we beat Creighton in the semifinals, I was in the upperbowl and it was packed up there!

Ah...one of my favorite, and also least favorite Arch Madness memories.

That was an amazingly fun day, after a tough win the night before, to absolutely destroy Creighton by 30. I remember in the first half during one of our big runs, Eldridge blew right past P'Allen Stinnet baseline and dunked on Kenny Lawson---right in front of Creighton's stunned student section. There was even a huge contingent of WSU fans in the upper bowl cheering us on that day.

To say we were elated after that game would be a huge understatement.

Then the UNI game happened on Sunday

I would be willing to bet - it has to do with what the ScottTrade Center charges the MVC. I went ahead and bought the all-session package this year - trying to buy tickets for each session is waaaay to much of a hassle for me and end paying about the same either way. My kids get the student tickets - no problem.

My neighbors only come down if we play in the championship game - but, at least they come down with two vans full of people.

Closing the upper bowl saves a ton on ushers, concessions, etc.

I am excited to see the seating chart. It is going to be weird without the entire section behind the basket being yellow.

I'm thinking seating will pretty much be a free for all. The main thing the ushers did is check to make sure you had a lower ticket. Now, they don't have to do that. But also, I guess it doesn't matter because one seat in the LB isn't much better than another.

Interesting. I'd be interested seeing the rest of the map. Just hope we don't end up playing Drake.

Looks like calling Evansville’s ticket office for their tickets might be a good idea.

What happens if Loyola loses?

Does the Selection Committee play by precidence and screw them out ala last year?

Or do they learn from their mistake and let a hypothetical 26-8 (just throwing numbers) LU team in?

It would be 33 games for Loyola if they make it to the Championship game and they must get there to be considered for an at-large bid. Last year 27-6 (33 games with an RPI of 34 didn't cut it). If Loyola runs the table and loses in the Championship game they will be 27-6 and their RPI will be in the mid to high 40's. That may be enough considering they only have one bad loss (Milwaukee) and the Redbirds had 2/3. Loyola also has a top 5 win in their back pocket. I think they must win out until the Championship game though. I don't think 26-7 will cut it.
