I saw Gassman do that during warm ups one game.

WE should be the best in MVC next year. I'm not sure at this point we will be.

Matt seems to be all-in regarding being a Redbird. Loved his engagement from the bench. Sounds cheesy, but I do. That little vid was impressive. Hard to get impressed from video.

My only big question mark is he played for Leroy. It's akin to Bruninga's circumstances. Such a leap in competition. I hope he takes my question mark and shoves it right up my ...

That'd be fine with me.

I remember this guy from Spring Valley . . . from Illiopolis . . . from Benton, IL . . .

That's a pretty good point right there.

I agree that the expectations are out of this world next season....IFFFFFFFFFFF this team stays together. If someone of any consequence leaves then we are right back in this cycle.

Well, I let it breathe for 24 hours and took a step back.

1- I'm incredibly proud of this team. Overacheived to, I'd say, 6 more wins than they probably should have been expected to have given the injuries and the loss of FIVE starter level players.

2- I am incredibly disappionted in our fan base. From the lack of asses in seats to the jagoffs dotting our StL group. We need to do better as fans.

3- I'm done with the Matt Hein experiment. Im sorry. He looks like a solid D2 player, but you cant have him on scholarship next year if a guy like Bruninga has to sit. You are deep enough to hide him in victory cigar minutes next season, a RS Junior cant burn a scholly in that role.

4- Muller and his staff need to spend all off season preeching Free Throws and ball security
Enough of this 40 foot pass garbage. Move, get open and swing the ball. There is nothing more infuriating that watching a team throw 4 or 5 balls into the stands every night.

5- This team was short 2 things this season: a true 2 guard scorer and a muscle to the rim big. Well, we can have both with Copeland (or Chastain) and Rey. I expect nothing less than a 24 win season and a 1 seed at Arch Madness next season. Next year is the year for me. A valley championship and a trip to the NCAA gets me on board with signing coach for life, but if we can't do it next season, I cant, for the life of me, figure out when that will be with Milik, Key and Fayne gone.

Be proud of this team. When you look at everything they overcame, the results were high level.

Signing our coach to life if we make the tourney next year? Who do you think we are siu Edwardsville??

Yep! This guys not going to scare any opponents let’s put it that way. Great guy, but I go back to what I said on another thread, he’s not our ticket to the big dance.

I'm not expecting him or anyone to be some sort of savior, but a "moderately more athletic version of Gassman" period, end of story? Silly uninformed observation. Good ball handler, above average passer, good court vision, fairly more than moderately more athletic than the second most unathletic member of our roster. If his skills translate to this leveling will be a nice addition.

It was funny how he could do a 360 dunk, but then the coach says he wasn't healed up enough to play in the scrimmage after. Definitely looked healthy to me...oh well, can't wait to see him and Copeland finally play some next year.

I saw Chastain play in the state playoffs two years ago. He was athletic against the level he was playing against. Tallest kid on court. Could not dribble with his left hand at all. Could not go left (shot right-handed layups from left side). Had a decent shot (unguarded).

He was let go by Loyola who has subsequently presented Lucas Williamson to us all (a 2/3 who is athletic, can defend and shoot as a frosh).

I hope Chastain turns out great, but he didn’t pick ISU and then was let go by our new rivals to the north.

So to sit here and expect him to be a large contributor next year just doesn’t seem to add up. Maybe in 2-3 years he will be a solid contributor at ISU. I hope so.

But we need guard depth next year. We don’t need a third small forward.

I dunno how good Chastain will be.

But I absolutely know that that he was not "let go" by Loyola.

You first, VBoy. You started this nonsense. A person associated with the Loyola program told me Saturday that Porter was very disappointed that Chastain was leaving, and tried to talk him out of it. This was totally unsolicited. This was corroborated by folks I know in LeRoy.

Saying he was "let go" is nothing but total BS. You are either pulling that out of your butt, your have have a very bad source.

A personal friend of his told me that he so did not like big city life at all and wanted to move back close to home. What did Porter tell you?

V boy - you are totally wrong. My son is friends with Matt - he hated Chicago (but then again who doesn't) - his leaving had nothing to do with basketball. It was the city and the fact the campus was completely dead on weekends, because most students went home - no college life.

Have been told the same. He hated the city and didn't fit in. Porter was trying to keep him there. He just plain wasn't happy. He is happy at ISU.

I don't think anybody thinks he's THE ticket to the dance next year. What most are saying is that he's going to be good contributor and not a drag on resources.
