Jan 21, 1978 - Birds beat #4 Larry Bird and InSU at Horton 81-76
Dec 4, 1978 - Birds lost first game of the year in OT in Terre Haute to Larry Bird 78-76 - InSU did not become ranked until week 4 of the season.
Dec 10, 1979 - Birds beat InSU in Horton 66-58.
Dec 4…We led practically the entire game. I believe it was Donewalds first game as head coach for us.

Good question. We obviously didn't need them yesterday, but we sure could benefit from having at least Burford and Davis back. Especially in the Lou

To me, a lot hinges on the next game. If we roll Evansville, we may be on to something. If we lay an egg, we’ll know the Sycamore win was an anomaly and it’s back to the abyss.
For me, this is a huge game.
I’m definitely stoked with the win in Terre Haute. That said with 3 of 4 at home it would take 3-1 to end the year and at least 1 win in STL for me to feel better about this season as a whole.

So I suppose we agree since finally defending home court would start with Sunday against Evansville.

If the birds stumble into the end of the season the boo birds will be back out in force and rightly so. The old “you have to build up the wins” applies here.

Some of our fans need to lose the berating our players at home schtick. Probably has something to do with the difference in how this team plays at home.

I’m not knocking the players or the fans. If you lose 3 of the next 4 and lose Thursday in STL then all the buzz and goodwill from the ISU blue game will be gone. And, rightfully so. Need to build on that win and have a good finish to the season, not limping across the finish line. Yes, it was a great win but the jury is still out on this season.

Not saying you were. Just saying it's a thing, and at this point, it's painfully obvious that this group performs better on the road away from the angst of the home fans.

I see no reason why they can't win four of the final five regular season games and enter St. Louis as one of the hottest teams in the league.
