GoRedbirds has now updated '22-'23 roster. There could still be more churning but this may be a sign that things may begin to settle down.
While they are the same numbers as they posted in their commitment posts, the roster has been updated again with our newly added players. Poindexter will be #1, Burford will be #10, and Sandage will be #15

I'm going to parrot what you're saying a bit here.

If we have 4 scholarships to work with, we need a post for sure. This post is going to most likely have to be a transfer. Nothing against Schmitt but we need someone who will start over him to really feel good about our team. He can be a serviceable back up for us.

Picking up 2 wings that are 6'4" - 6'7" is also a necessity. I would feel really good if we got a grad transfer and then Martinelli. I personally don't think Martinelli will be ready for a starting role right away like DeVries showed, but what do I know? If we don't pick up 2 guys at this position we are going to see a lot of Lewis, McChesney, and Sissoko playing the 3.

Then with our last scholarship, maybe we go after a high school post. Someone for Pedon to take in and develop for 4-5 years.
I agree with that, my perfect scenario is ultimately Martinelli and Justin Ahrens at the wing with a post transfer. Martinelli can get some playing time and learn behind Ahrens then. I know this is just a dream but hey.

That would give us some wings in that height range, as basketball is turning into a perimeter game. The more guys who can be a certain height and play multiple positions the better. Not sure how many mvc teams play 2 traditional posts/bigs together, heck some teams don't play 1 traditional post/big.

I agree with all who have said we need a big or two. I keep hoping I read the name Payton Sparks here, but so far, nada. He's a really good kid .All about winning and finding the right culture. Maybe I'm in for a nice suprise.

He would fit in real nice, but I believe a few weeks he posted that he was returning to Ball State.

Based on a four guard offensive set, ISU is going to need to put up a staggering 47 3 pointers and make a minimum 42.6 % to score 60.6 points to be competitive every game. That is with 10 to 15 points in the paint. And with almost zero inside game in the plans, equivocates to a long season.

I’m just impressed you wasted the time to run those numbers

Don't be too impressed. His numbers don't work. Shooting 42.6% from three on 47 attempts equals 60.07 pts/game. Crazzy says we'll have 10-15 ppg in the paint. So that means he thinks we'll really average 71-76 ppg. If we play D, that's not a bad average.

Crazzy just doesn't think thru his posts before he posts them.

If we shot 42.6% as a team shooting 47 3s a game, I don't want to hear anyone bitch about us chucking up 3s. We would be trend setters. I also think if we were that proficient from 3 shooting that often. the lane may open up a little so we squeeze just a little more than 10 to 15 points. Also, imagine if we made a few free throws. We could push 80 points a game.

Why are we talking about running a 4 guard lineup when we have more bigs (1 Center, 4 stretch 4s), than guards under scholarship?

Probably because outside of Lewis the guards are better. I’d argue Liam is more 3 than stretch forward. For me the starting lineup with 4 scholarships to go would be:

1: Sandage
2: Burford
3: McChesney
4: Lewis
5: Schmitt

Could go small and slide another guard in and move McChesney/Lewis to 4/5.
