We'll find out how patient some of you people are, when they have 5 or maybe six wins halfway through the season this year and due to injuries walk on to be starting. And it will take a couple years for them to be good or at least adequate for lower tier of the league it will take a long time. Hopefully we'll be in a bigger conference by then.
Which "bigger conference? Exactly which conference is going to extend an invite?

“ISU still has four scholarships available. At this time, it doesn't appear the Redbirds will be signing twins Takai and Tajuan Simpkins from Liberty Christian Athletics Institute in Charlotte, North Carolina, who committed to former ISU head coach Dan Muller in February.”

Although there is still a little uncertainty, this situation has been weird to follow. Based on the Simpkins' social media activity and other comments I saw around the time of their commitment, it seemed like they formed a good relationship with the guys that were on the locker room during their visit. That helps explain why they were initially still committed with the coaching change.

FWIW, they do still have RedbirdMBB tagged on their Instagram profiles.

There have been a couple of guys hit the portal in the last few weeks that did not have intentions on leaving a month ago from what I have heard. There is a chance that these guys entering the portal has contributed to this uncertainty related to the twins and the apparent ghosting of Jim Benson by their coach. Seems like an awkward situation there. Another factor is whether they still believed Coach Rob was sticking around.

On another related note, it appears Coach Pedon is extremely committed to the culture that he preaches about and that is going to be something for all of us to be excited about moving forward.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Johnson back at TSF and the twins take a post grad year there.

I wish the twins well and coach Johnson well, I hope they both can find a spot that fits them. I think the writing was on the wall when the 1st week of the signing period has come and still nothing from the twins. Most kids schedule a signing party and we didn't get any of that. With that said about the roster for next year, here is what I am thinking.

5- you already have Schmitt and Kotov. Maybe they battle it out for backup minutes but id like to see a guy who can play in the play post and get us points. I hope Schmitt is living in the weight room.
4. we are actually decently deep here with Lewis, McChesney and Sissoko.
3. here is where if we could get a transfer wing and the best freshman or younger guy that would be awesome.
2/1. I love that Pedon is getting kids who can play multiple spots and wants multiple ball handlers on the court at the same time. With the current recruits and Freeman we have depth here and they sound like they can all play off of each other.

So I would go with best post to start and the top 2 wings that we can bring in. With the last scholarship maybe you take a chance on a kid or give it to the best hardworking walk-on player still on the roster. I still like the way this roster is shaping up.

I’d argue McChesney is more 3 than 4. Can he play 4? Sure, but he’s more perimeter oriented than down low. We all agree we need a 5. We have 4 scholarships and who knows what is going on with Freeman. If Freeman bails we need at least 1 more guard. A 3 then a 3 or 4. Should be fun to follow. A lot of guys we are recruiting are not very active on social media so it’s hard to get a pulse like we had last week.

In Pedon we trust. Love what he’s done so far. MVC will be wide open next year. We can be competitive immediately.

I don't think Kotov would play the 5 offensively, I don't know a ton about his game, but I have a feeling he is more in the mold of McChesny than Schmitt skill set wise.

He's listed at 6'10 230lbs and I wasn't sure in the mvc if that plays at McChesney skill set where you have to play the perimeter on defense and so forth. Kotov might be the biggest question we have on the roster bc nobody has really seen him play since he's arrived.

I only have his highlight real (below) and what I've seen of him in warmups, but I believe he is more of a stretch 4 than he would be a 5. Same with McChesny. That's not to say that they won't guard a 5 or end up posting up ever, but their skill set seems to lend itself more towards jump shots than jump hooks.

I'm going to parrot what you're saying a bit here.

If we have 4 scholarships to work with, we need a post for sure. This post is going to most likely have to be a transfer. Nothing against Schmitt but we need someone who will start over him to really feel good about our team. He can be a serviceable back up for us.

Picking up 2 wings that are 6'4" - 6'7" is also a necessity. I would feel really good if we got a grad transfer and then Martinelli. I personally don't think Martinelli will be ready for a starting role right away like DeVries showed, but what do I know? If we don't pick up 2 guys at this position we are going to see a lot of Lewis, McChesney, and Sissoko playing the 3.

Then with our last scholarship, maybe we go after a high school post. Someone for Pedon to take in and develop for 4-5 years.
