Bloomington and West are in the same regional on opposite sides of the bracket. There is a VERY GOOD chance BHS and West play in that Regional Championship in Rock Island. What are the odds the two schools can petition the IHSA to get that game to be at the Shirk? Seems silly that the schools are 10 min away from each other and they have to go 1.5 hours to play. (I know it happens all the time, but I can't think of the last time both teams had top D1 prospects.) It would sell out the Shirk for sure.

Knowing West admin rather well - there is no way they would agree to play at the Shirk. NCHS would be the more likely place, unless Bloomington would agree to play at West, which is a possibility.

Sites have been moved before based on similar logistics. I think the original host school needs to be compensated for in terms of gate receipts and concessions to some degree. And volunteers are needed to staff the target location.

I remember driving to Springfield and watching 2 Intercity teams play, and then coming out of the gym to fog as thick as pea soup. Ridiculous.

Okoro has scheduled an official to Oregon. It looks like he's taking off as a national recruit.

Some chatter going around that he may reclassify

Both Oregon and Illinois want him to take the SAT and re-classify.

Man. Take your time. No need to grow up so fast just because a school needs a big.

I believe Abdou is better than Okoro. Okoro is overrated in my opinion. He's a great player, don't get me wrong, he should be putting up a lot better numbers versus mainly Central Illinois teams. It isn't the Chicago league. I don't even consider Okoro the best high school player in Blo-No. That's Payton. I hope he'll jump back on board after Ndiaye's commitment.

Would be smart for Mr. Payton to come to his senses and jump back on the Redbird express before it leaves the station. Not sure who all got in Payton's ear, but he might regret jumping off the train.

Anyhow, GO YOU REDBIRDS!! :happy-bouncyred:

I've seen Okoro play probably 10 times. Each time he has spent a lot of the game on the perimeter looking for the ball for a jumper. However, he would always end with a double double. He could have been averaging 25+ ppg if he just played on the block for a lot of the game. Except against Payton, he was the most athletic kid on the court and always the biggest. He does have a college ready body and could afford to gain some weight, but generally I was unimpressed. Illini fans have been drooling over him for a long time.

Side tangent.... any time a fan contacts a recruit directly that has not signed an LOI, it is a recruiting violation. I know this because I got a call from ISU compliance maybe 4 or 5 years ago about it because they self reported it to the NCAA. So any time I see a kid bombarded by other fans I get frustrated. I know it happens everywhere but its a catch 22- On one hand you want to honor the rules, on the other, you don't want the kid to think the fans aren't interested.

Cue Cuonzo Martin to visit a close relative in the B/N area . . .

I agree. I have seen him play many times. I think Payton plays bigger! Okoro is over rated in my opinion.

On the bright side, wherever he commits, we may get a nice home game at some point.

Better hope he goes to Purdue, because Illinois is never willingly coming to ISU.

Oregon is a good fit for him, and puts lots of players in the NBA.

Okoro will announce for Oregon Monday.
