This case should be dropped period. The Normal Police are far to over zealous when it comes to students - now with my third child as a student - we are 7-0 versus the Normal Police is stupid stuff like this - the problem is, it costs me over $1,000 each time for an attorney and court costs - in total close to $10,000. In several instances, the judge admonished the officer for even writing a ticket and slammed the Asst. State's Attorney for not dismissing the charges to begin with.

The Normal Police look at each student as an ARM machine for fines and fees - it is pathetic. Meanwhile, they shy away, unless called to the Section 8 housing complexes - I do not get it.

There are serious issues in the Normal PD. You hit the nail on the head. A lot of times the arresting officer won't show to court if a ticket is contested and the case is thrown out. I'll hope the Pantagraph writes an article when these charges are dropped.

Says the coach who has been accused of verbally and emotionally abusing his players at two different universities?
Said it before and I'll say it again. Watched Wardle conduct a practice at UW-GB. He's an asshole who treated lis players like shit. If he's like that everyday he has no redeming qualities and should not be working with student/athletes. Glad he belongs to Bradley. It only shows how desperate they are, but his act will only last so long. He's waaaaay past classless.
This X1000

My first interaction with Weirdo Wardle was in 1995 when he was in high school and I was a young college coach. Let's just say that if Wardle is serious about his culture and getting the "right kids" and all that garbage.........then he wouldn't have even recruited himself. Because he was a complete POS.

I also have been friends for 30 years with a former assistant of his at Green Bay who despised every minute he worked for Wardle. Complete tool and if he's lucky enough to have a better opportunity come along he will leave Peoria faster than a Big Al's entertainer loses her lycra ass floss.

The only way you should be paying court costs is if you lose in court.

Not enough facts to make any meaningful opinion either for or against Yarbrough but humorous how some do....even going as far as blaming the police.

Whatever happened it is an embarrassment for Muller, the basketball team, the athletic department and more importantly the image of the university. Given his history how dumb or stupid or reckless must Yarbrough be to get arrested again? Agree Muller has to take risks on players in order to compete nationally but hope he holds the players accountable when they F up.

I apologize for my rudeness and name calling. I just wish you could find a team you like better.

Nothing I can say that hasn't been said already. Wish MY was smarter to not put himself in that position. My first thought was why did he have an 18 year old girlfriend. As others have said Normal PD is very hard on isu students. Just basically hope that HCDM can get the correct punishment. I love that HCDM takes risks on student athletes but this gets very tiresome.

I've never been in a city where cops so diligently sit and wait for speeders. 30 mph is criminally slow on streets like Vernon and College Ave. When I'm back in the area, I watch the speedometer more than the road ahead.

I must have racked up 5 or 6 tickets while at ISU. None since.

Court supervision for the driving offense.

HUGE since it was two offense. Not even getting probation? They threw him a bone. Court supervision is basically nothing. No reporting. Just stay out of trouble and you never hear about it again. Of course, Yarbrough staying out of trouble is the key...

Bradley’s dominant poster views the Yarbrough infractions much more seriously than the judges in McLean County. Could it be because Milik burned the Braves for 45 points in two games last year, was all conference, and is returning for his senior year? Having once incurred a significant fine for speeding in an unmanned construction zone to get to a basketball game, I’m fine with Yarbrough’s court supervision. Good things projected for the Birds in 2018-2019.

Yeah I've got one on College. I try to avoid that street when I can. It's very easy to be doing 45 and not realize it.

This was the case in the late 70s when I was there too....

I would guess that NPD had a way to give tickets to horses and buggies too.

During homecoming several years ago Normal PD gave me a ticket on college for going 35 in a 30 because it was a "high traffic area" with it being homecoming weekend. That was cool.

Not necessarily a bone. Up here in cook county, driving on suspended cases that aren’t based on a dui aren’t even prosecuted anymore.
