I don’t understand the need to get players from Illinois. I don’’t care if they’re from Timbuktu. If they can get us out of this 21 year funk, then that’s all that matters to me.

Yes, we shouldn't be recruiting only from Illinois and Chicago-land. However, Illinois has always been a historically strong high school basketball state. Look at all the P5 conferences that get Illinois talent. ISU "should" have an advantage for getting this in-state talent. I also don't care where we get players from but we are already here in Illinois. Look at where some of Illinois' best talent ends up.

I honestly think this is part of Jones motivation to come here. He knew his time was up at UND. If Desperate Dan has one good season he will be interviewing for jobs before the NCAA Tournament game (I know, long shot we make the NCAA Tourney with Muller) and bolt as fast as possible. This leaves Jones with Head Coaching experience as a potential replacement for Dan.

Also, do we have the worst beat writers in America? There is an ISU basketball story (the top sports team in the community) and Benson decides to just tweet random vague tweets on the subject. How about doing some work and finding out the story? I don't care if Muller doesn't want this to be released. Benson basically just waits until there is an ISU press release to do anything. Call someone, figure out what is going on, and write about it. [mention]Adunk33[/mention] and I don't agree on much, but I think we are on the same page about this.

If Muller is about to hire another coach then it looks like ISU may have been very short handed (down two assistant coaches vs one) this spring during the highly important spring recruiting and active transfer period. Maybe that is part of the reason for the apparent struggle in filling the open schollies for the 2019 season?

Gotta say that there seems to be a whole lot of strange brew around the ISU Hoops program given that ISU may be hiring an assistant coach yet the maximum allowed 4 assistant spots seem occupied.
