I am curious on everyone's thoughts on Wichita State's basketball program and current year? Lots of varying opinions when they left the MVC all over this board. Also lots of venom spewed last year when they struggled but no mention of them this year. Looks like they have bounced back and their coach's master plan seems to be working quite well. I wonder if they would even come close to losing a game this year in the MVC....

I don't give them much of a thought, pretty much like I didn't give much of a thought about Tulsa when they left, or Creighton when they did the same. The only schools worth focusing on are the ones we have to beat in St. Louis to reach our goal.

I am very impressed with what Marshall has done. They had a few good runs like the Redbirds did before Marshall came along. However, they also had some very bad years too. What they have become under Marshall is amazing. In a bad year they almost win the NIT. He is doing what I was hoping ISU would do under Muller.

Gregg is a great coach and recruiter. He's a bit arrogant but can back it up unlike Dan and his arrogance. Gregg's wife on the other hand is a complete lunatic.

The state of their program should be credited to Koch, however, because without his money Gregg would have left already.

On the other hand, WSU has resources the Birds just don't and won't have. The Birds will never be more than a stepping stone school. We'll never see continued success like the Shocks have seen in the Marshall years. Maybe someday we'll have a coach who'll get us back to the Dance for a year or two, but then that coach'll move on . . . and we'll be back to coaching roulette . . .

And given the right opportunity, Marshall will leave. But it'll have to be a true blue blood school. One that has a real shot at winning a championship.

Although many people do not like Greg he is a good guy. I've been to a few charity functions with him and can attest he treats everybody with dignity and respect. He is also very generous and has no issues reaching in his pocket to give to the less fortunate. Only bad thing I can say about him is he has a horrible slice off the tee!

While I don't have the same level of hate for Muller others have (though I do think it would benefit both him and the birds if he moved on), this one is Marshall no question. Shockers missed the Tourney for the first time last year since 2012 and they've been been to a Final Four. Say what you will about him, but the guy can coach.
