Nope.......if he was playing there in 2012, that would have been almost 30 years after our first round loss to Ohio under Donewald.
Of course, he could possibly have been on an Ohio team that beat ISU around 2012 in a regular seawson game, but when I see a reference to a Bobcat win over the Redbirds, I jump to the conclusion that it's a reference to the infamous first round NCAA Tournament loss.

Maybe I shouldn't read too much into this, but if Toledo is not on the verge of head coaching turnover, an encouraging thing is that he is willing to move to Blo-No for what would be considered a lateral Assistant Coaching move. For those unaware of Toledo's location, it is not only a University city in its own right but it is also anout 60 miles south of Detroit, so he is moving to ISU from a market that has professional teams in all major sports. Maybe he wouldn't do that unless he saw the opportunity to accomplish something worth the move. Just speculation; it could turn out that he lost a bet.

I had similar thoughts - he left a top MAC program to come to the current state of affairs at Old State U. That says something about Coach Ryan, or the ISU reputation, or both, and/or something else. Opportunity. Hope. Toledo Coach Kowalczyk is in pretty good shape I think, their program is pretty solid.

I'm hoping for another coach announcement yet this week. Coach Ryan shows up Monday in the dark, greeted by Lewis, and a couple days later locks up Offut. Couple more days and he's ready to announce another assistant and now we got three guys to get out there and recruit.

That will happen when the person leaving brings positivity and winning to the program. It will happen here someday.
It already did for Yak, Ford, Oliver. Would’ve happened to Ward if not for the tragic day. Sorry we weren’t glowing for Duhon or Chad Dollar.

Seems like Offutt has already gotten started recruiting. He follows Ruffin.

From Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, a "suburb" of Madison, played on some pretty good teams in HS. We've had some football players from SP altho blanking on them for now.

Josh Dinga now in FB. Seems like some other D lineman recently. Whatever.

Ruffin would be a nice "sign of the times" in the fit of the recruiting footprint, he being a Milwaukee-ish (I know Madison is a different idea) young man. I really hope the next two assistant hires include a Chicago-rooted/AAU guy or high-end CPS/Arch high school HC and then nab some D2 Mizzou coach that can beat the ground around the Loo & KC.
