So Milik is a cancer, Keyshawn doesn't care, and ISU has turned into Coppin State?

That'll be enough RBF for me today!

Don't forget, historically we set the worst screens ever recorded in the NCAA

FWIW, Evans is playing hurt. Turned his ankle against BYU and again today.

But if he’s hurt then they have to adjust. High ball screens. We can’t just keep saying people are hurt.

Can we keep bringing up opponents that are hurt?

Exactly. He has a .600 winning percentage. Out of 30 games that's an 18-12 record. Sorry, that's not good enough. Are you guys happy with 18-12 with an nit every 3 seasons. Talk about settling.
You don’t need to settle. Duke’s still looking for more fans.

This is who ISU is. If you are looking for true basketball relevance, you’re looking in the wrong place. We’re usually mediocre to good, and rarely great. We’re a middling mid major in an uninspiring conference. The ceiling is what it is.

It doesn't have to be like this. Think little be little. How are any of you successful in life? I know some of you are because you didn't think little and took chancesome and became a success.

I'm successful by doing, not whining. I'm successful by being sensible, not frivolous.

These long athletic teams just give us trouble

Aren’t we considered to be “long and athletic”? Doesn’t seem to affect anyone we play.

We are considered long and athletic against me, but not against teams we play.

Yes, other than JJ - nobody has the 3 eye. That's where TB comes in I foresee. TB won't help on the boards.

Muller has his hands full with this group when we face physical teams. I believe once we hit conference we'll see
Phil begin to finish stronger, William will find his shot on occasion and Key won't be so exposed on D. However, hit fast
forward as I hope we make it to the Sunday MVC finals; Boogie has got to make a few threes, Key play like a healthy guy
from the past and Chastain needs to b full speed. Maybe, we have a chance. This non-con schedule should pay dividends.

We are fortunate on several fronts. The 2 JC guards will get better. MY is eligible and Phil is currently making his free tosses. Chastain
can really b a special spark plug. I still hold out hope for the Gass to find his touch and with the intangibles, be a real fan fav. Personally, I'm
ok with yesterday's loss to a very talented team.
Wow is there a lot of REDBIRD KOOL-AID in those last two paragraphs. Sky not falling but gotta have a sense of reality.

Just my two cents. When I heard during pre-season that Duhon was putting in the offense they ran at Marshall, I was concerned. It’s not a bad offense, but didn’t think it fit our personnel. Not a lot of post touches and spread the floor for drive and kick 3’s.

I still think our strength (especially when we get into MVC play and Krutwig is basically one of the few post players in the league) will be Fayne and Milik getting touches inside. It seemed like yesterday we switched things up on the offensive end and got them more touches (don’t have stats on that, but seemed like it).

To me the double team caught us off-guard. If teams want to double team those guys, that should be to our advantage. If you want to play 4 on 3 after it gets thrown out, that should be good for us. I would like to see us get back side movement and have someone on the back side cut to the basket. BYU killed us with that when we doubled.

One thing that still kind of drives me nuts is we don’t push the ball and flow into anything out of transition. Every guy on the floor can run. We never push in transition and instead let the defense get set before we run our offense. I know we are short on numbers, but think we are missing out getting easy transition baskets.

I'm successful by surrounding myself with talented people like Sarge that get things done, sensible, and not frivolous.

While I agree in theory we should push the ball more, this team has no one minus Milik that can finish on the break. On at least 3 occasions we tried to push it and it ended in a missed or blocked layup. If Evans gets the ball on the break he needs to just hold it.

If Yarborough facilitates and runs the point...people will complain about his turnovers. You have to pick your poison with this team. I agree with pacmel..we are a big short. Bruninga is a glorified guard...that won’t be the savior. We have one guard that can stroke the 3. This team is in trouble if someone doesn’t step up.

I agree we are a big short. I think we need a big who defends and plays d. Were I Muller it would be my target in the offseason.

I agree! The guards better spend the off season shooting 1000 shots a day!

I'm confused. You agree we need a big, so the guards need to shoot more?

Gotta rebound to push the transition.

I think this is an issue in all of CBB. The past few seasons it seems more and more players are doing a really good job of disrupting the shot on the fast break. Some of that is that the officials have allowed the defender more leeway to block the layup. Some is that the number of taller, lankier players who can jump through the roof. Used to be that was almost always called a foul or goaltending.

The offensive player needs to learn how to adjust to make it difficult for the defender to block. Using the opposite hand, using the rim to protect the shot, forcing contact, and also stopping at the bucket to allow the defender to fly by. There are options available, just need guys to consider them. And, yes, one option is pull up and set the offense.

Give all the years on this board I never thought I'd see the day where Fan1 was truly the voice of reason, but that is where we are.

The transformation of Fan1's posts to realistic and reasonable has been a great thing this year.

Have to say that I’m intrigued by the rumors of eligibility of one iof our new guys. Is anyone putting stock in that? Would really like to hear opinions.

I heard that rumor too, but nobody knows who the player is. Maybe it's AN. All the others are transfers so wouldn't they have to sit out the entire year? If I had my wish I'd want Fisher though.

If you've been paying attention (not directed at you JHBird), the NCAA has been granting waivers for transfers who haven't had to sit out any time. Missouri's guard from Illinois was granted immediate eligibility:

Dana Ford and Mo State also had a transfer get a waiver this season:

as for this game........

i thought the Birds played pretty well and played hard all game. SDSU is really good. a much more talented team than we are. I don't think we'd win more than 1-2 out of 10 against those guys. SDSU is too long and too fast.

that's OK though. our guys competed hard and did a nice job overall.
