I agree that we have some posters desperate to make mountains out of molehills. This discussion is not an example of that, but it happens.

I like Rey . Put it in the basket, Chief! He’s got great hands, and caught 2 passes Sunday that would have escaped many frosh bigs. And finished on both.

Agree ... Reye needs minutes in the abscence of foul trouble. He has potential unlike some others not starting for ISU. Given ISU poor depth on the bench I can not figure out why he does not get as many minutes as possible as his improvement would be meaningful for ISU come post season.

I assume your suggesting plug Rey in instead of Hein. That would mean our only two post players would be on the court at the same time, playing the same position, likely picking up fouls at an alarming rate. Rey and Phil both run the 5. One might say, "put him at the 5 and have Phil run the 4." Have you seen the 4's role in our offense? It's usually to stand on the corner and be ready to shoot a three (Boogie, and Chas) or running the baseline during the weave up top. I'm not sure Phil, Rey, or the team would benefit from being in that role.

I would like to see Rey play more, but his minutes make sense given our motion based offense. I really like the kid. And ISU FAN 1 hit it on the head about his hands. How many times did we see a pass fly off of David's hands?

I think Rey will be fine down the road. The one thing he does well is shoot free throws. That helps with trusting to leave him in games.

We can talk about developing players and comparing them to former greats but it means nothing to me. Dinma had a nice career here that in the end amounted to jack shit in the big picture. We haven't accomplished anything big here in awhile so comparing current players to formers who never won conference titles or took us to the dance doesn't mean a whole lot to me. We are not gonna land McDonald's All Americans but hopefully we can land some that take us to the next level.
Doug Collins gets waaaaaay too much credit too. 16-10, 13-12, 17-9. Not one NCAA Bid. Sad

Rey is averaging almost 9 mins a game in MVC play. It's not a ton of minutes, but it's more than "barely sees the floor" on a team that goes 10 deep and 8 of which are over 10 minutes a game.

I swear some posters expect ISU to land fully formed McD's All-American recruits for crapssakes.

Dinma looked like he was shot-putting a 10-pound weight his freshman year. Seems to me Idowu
who looks light-years ahead of Dinma at a similar stage, has a similar work ethic.

Let's let him develop?

Jesus. All I’m saying is let’s not crown him the second coming of Patrick’s Ewing.

This board has a desperate habit of making mountains of molehills.

Also, 9 minutes is not a lot considering we’re going about 7 deep these days. Just sayin’...relax on the hyperbole.

Got a thing for Patrick's Ewing?

I like that Idowu is getting minutes while showing improvement every game. I hope he's a BIG part of the future of this team.
We all hope, but I’m not seeing what you’re seeing.
I’m seeing a guy that barely sees the floor on a team that has probably the weakest/thinnest bench in the NCAA.
But, as Redbird fans, hope is all we got.

This is where Double Deuce Crowns Rey the next Triple Tres (Patrick Ewing's Number is 33).

The days of putting 2 players on the post over. All it does is clog the lane. That's why Fayne and Rey need to be paired with a stretch 4. This is where Bruninga being out hurts. Milik is the 4 on this team most of the time, but he really is position less which is where basketball is moving to.

Stretch 4 is old term too...if you are a 4 and can't shoot you are a liability
