Milik can't drive to the basket the way he was able to last year because the way he is being defended. Guys are flopping, he is being doubled and guys are ready for him. They know he is susceptible to the charge. I think he is driving less because he is tired of being in foul trouble. I also think he and Dan are on the same page right now.

Lol, Baltimore :) The alley ooop play was excellent.

Yeah, stats. The way it's been going this year, I think Milik is gonna get a charge every time he does drive to the basket. Deserved or not

I like that Idowu is getting minutes while showing improvement every game. I hope he's a BIG part of the future of this team.
We all hope, but I’m not seeing what you’re seeing.
I’m seeing a guy that barely sees the floor on a team that has probably the weakest/thinnest bench in the NCAA.
But, as Redbird fans, hope is all we got.

I'm not surprised you're not seeing what others are seeing.

Redbird Arena was a library for most of the game yesterday. The officiating was awful and inconsistent on both ends of the court for both teams. I think there was like five minutes left in the first half before INST got called for one? There were so many missed travels, and double dribbles that have been called most of the year. It was just bad.

I loved that in bound play to Phil for the oop. It was a thing of beauty. Watching live, it looked like it could have been Phil or Chas throwing it down. I saw a tweet that describes Chas very well.

Who else in the MVC has had this reputation in the past? My original thought was Baker, but Chas doesn't flop and actually takes charges. I'm sure there are some obvious ones I am forgetting. I'm trying to think of those guys who seemed to be the the league forever but weren't necessarily "scorers."

Lucas O'Rear
How about Mike Vandegarde? These types of players are great when they play for your team. But they are really a Mark Golden in the eyes of the rest of the league’s fans. Golden was an early ‘80s pain in the arse that played for Indiana State.

Tekele Cotton came to mind when I was thinking of this. Had the big time flashy dunks/plays but known more for his hustle and D than ever as a scorer.

Rey is averaging almost 9 mins a game in MVC play. It's not a ton of minutes, but it's more than "barely sees the floor" on a team that goes 10 deep and 8 of which are over 10 minutes a game.

I swear some posters expect ISU to land fully formed McD's All-American recruits for crapssakes.

Dinma looked like he was shot-putting a 10-pound weight his freshman year. Seems to me Idowu
who looks light-years ahead of Dinma at a similar stage, has a similar work ethic.

Let's let him develop?

We live in a world that demands instant gratification. Sad

Just wait. You think the Carmichael Kick was a sight to see. Rey is a black belt in Taekwondo.

Yeah, Beak. It is downright hilarious what some posters expect.

I really like Rey's development. This guy is going to be a good player for us.

And from everything I have seen and heard, he has a great attitude. Coachable.

I like Rey. Put it in the basket, Chief! He’s got great hands, and caught 2 passes Sunday that would have escaped many frosh bigs. And finished on both.

He looks like he has some decent post moves. I hope he starts shooting more down there. First part of the season he looked kinda lost on defense. He looks a lot more comfortable now.

Agree ... Reye needs minutes in the abscence of foul trouble. He has potential unlike some others not starting for ISU. Given ISU poor depth on the bench I can not figure out why he does not get as many minutes as possible as his improvement would be meaningful for ISU come post season.

I think Rey will be fine down the road. The one thing he does well is shoot free throws. That helps with trusting to leave him in games.

We can talk about developing players and comparing them to former greats but it means nothing to me. Dinma had a nice career here that in the end amounted to jack shit in the big picture. We haven't accomplished anything big here in awhile so comparing current players to formers who never won conference titles or took us to the dance doesn't mean a whole lot to me. We are not gonna land McDonald's All Americans but hopefully we can land some that take us to the next level.

Agree. Not every school lands McDonald's AAs, but many still have nice deep March runs through the tournament. It can be done. It usually starts with the coach.

Jesus. All I’m saying is let’s not crown him the second coming of Patrick’s Ewing.

This board has a desperate habit of making mountains of molehills.

Also, 9 minutes is not a lot considering we’re going about 7 deep these days. Just sayin’...relax on the hyperbole.

"Crown him the second coming of Patrick’s Ewing"? Dude ... all DoubleDeuce said was: ↑

Others chimed in that they too liked Idowu's development and see room for optimism in coming years.

Seems the hyperbole you're imagining is the actual molehill.
