I was slightly optimistic going into this game but not now. How are we going to be competitive in the MVC if we can't beat a team like High Point.
Going to be another long season!!
Maybe High Point is better than you think?

We just handled LBSU who won road games ay Michigan and DePaul (yes, I know the demons suck). We will be fine in the Valley.

Kinziger is going to get better and better. I know it was mentioned elsewhere that he could be our best player. He already is in my book. Does everything well. A leader and a winner. Need more like him.

Lieb has got to make it happen in the paint offensively. There’s no excuse for being 7’1 and missing every single hook shot around the bucket. He went 0-6 in the paint. He’s an absolute force on defense and on the boards, so we need him on the floor more. Seems like he presses offensively and needs to relax and just make some easy plays. He’s bigger than almost everyone he plays against.

Hell of a comeback! This team culture and “fight to the end” mentality is a massive departure from what we have seen most of the past 5 years. Love the fight I just wish that with two chances in the end Johnny would have gotten one if the looks for three to win it. We are going to need more than 3 points from Foster, but this was an excellent and entertaining game. Only 6 turnovers and 90% FT shooting tonight is excellent! I’m going to keep an eye on High Point this season and I think they will take a lot of teams down. Nothing to hang our heads about here. Let’s get them tomorrow and. One back 2-1! I like this team! Go Birds!

-Lieb - Quit shooting. If he could score, he wouldn't be at ISU. Rebound, rebound, screen, rebound, and play defense.
-JK - Deserves a starting spot and 35+ minutes per game or I would be in the portal if I was him.
-Mal - Has to make that 3. Wide open.
-They had NO clue what was going on off the missed free throw. Neither did coach.
-Get JK the last shot. Time to ride or die with the Fresh!
-HPU's coach has been on the job for 8 months. I find it interesting they are this competitive so quickly. He must have got that culture built and decided to move on to winning. He inherited a program way worse off than ISU.
-19-21 from line!
-Only 6 TOs!

Anyone who was able to watch, were the last two three's by Banks good looks?
I think they were. Mal missed one that could’ve put the birds ahead as well. Jk continues his case to be a starter. I’ve been talking about a wing needs to step up and contribute. The bigs did not have a good game at all. Too many shots were missed at point blank range. The strength of this team once again are the guards. DB had a great game, Klew had a good one also. Jk is a dog and will be a big time of for the program. Games before the conference schedule kicks are to get some good looks at kids for rotation purpose. On paper this is a deep team. Realistically speaking it’s probably different.

I think they will be fine in the Valley as well. I will say this too. If it’s not broken don’t fix it. Like every other team, some lineups works better than others. I believe Pedon know what his rotations will be heading into Valley play.

I just tell myself he really hasn't played much in college and he still needs time to adjust to live action. with that being said, start making some shots.

I say all the time you can win some basketball games off of pure athleticism. They’re the more athletic team. Wide open looks be missed in every game, you make some you miss some. I would’ve been fine with JK taking the last shot as well. I’d start him but I’m no coach. I still can’t pinpoint what type of offense is being run yet either. I’m seeing one set screen and then one on one with the switch. Idk

The last look was not a good one. jK threw the ball in and I hoped it was coming back at him. 10-12 minute stretch where we didn’t defend and they shot lights out. I am worried about tomorrow because our best guys played almost all the second half.

He's been practicing against Kofi and Dainja for the past 3 years. He won't see anyone like that on the ISU schedule.

Am I the only one that see the offense being ran on one side of the floor? Maybe we need more movement on that end. The talent level is by far better than last year. Even in a close loss I like what I’m seeing but it’s a bit weird to watch. After 5 games in we’re sitting at 3-2. I”ll take it.

Wasn’t able to watch, but looking at how the minutes were distributed is tough to look at. Johnny only playing 15 minutes while Pence/Davis get 20+? Lieb playing as much as he did after yesterday only getting 5 minutes. I feel like this is one of those games where Pedon distributed those minutes better and we win.

6 turnovers and 90% from the line after yesterday is nice to see but this is really one we need to be winning in the end especially with tomorrow being a tough matchup either way you slice it.

That doesn't seem right for Pence and JK, but the boxes I am reading are showing that. I thought JK was out there at least 25 and Pence felt like 7-10.

How many points do we get for that?
We made a run with those 2 on the floor. Lewis had 9 points in 16 minutes. The run continued when Mal subbed for Luke. Foster and Lieb went 2 for 13. It wasn't their night. Lewis would have played more if he didn't get into foul trouble. I am not sure what the +/- were this game but I would think Lewis would have been on the positives

No way Pence and Davis played those minutes. Kinziger and Luke played more thsn the box score ia showing
That is what I was thinking because Luke picking up 4 fouls in 4 minutes seems crazy haha. Something off with the boxscores I would have to assume.

The program is trying to generate a buzz on campus and in the community. It’s really hard to accomplish this when we lose to high point.

This. Is. Redbird. Bball.
