Hein getting his hand pulled

Wow, can't believe I missed this live (basket interference). I hope we get Drake in the 3v6 in STL. If for nothing else, to "boo" Thomas every time he touches the ball.

Agree, Flagship. At least having them bring the ball up the floor and make an attempt while burning clock, we send them to the line right away to make it one possesion..

How did the refs see this and not call anything? Even if they called a F1 against Hein for the accidental context to the next area, that HAS to be an F1 or F2 against Thomas. That’s some dirty okay there.

Somebody at the league office has to look at that play on Hein. I am hoping we have better video with our cameras.

Why is Hein playing if his hand is not fully healed?

Hein's got grit. He really is the kind of kid who will run through a wall for his team. Glad he's a Redbird.

I honestly dont think they ever looked at that part of the play. I think when the refs went to the monitor they were solely focused on what hein did not what hein did after. Their coaches and fans were screaming the whole time that hein hit the kid in the throat and that he couldn't breathe. Just my guess. That said I'd definitely say someone from pur program needs to shoot that over to the league office. It is a straight dirty play, with intent to injure.

Hein inadvertently stuck his left hand in the Drake kid’s face screening out on a loose ball rebound. The Drake kid, pretty obviously in this Bird fans biased opinion, responded by grabbing Hein’s bad hand and giving it a yank. I thought it blatantly dirty, and the Drake kid only went for that hand because it was injured. Obviously reading a lot into intent and motive, but that’s how I saw it. But why else would he target to hand?
That was the cheapest of cheap-shots. I don't know how the refs could watch the replay and not call a flagrant foul. To me it was obvious that it was totally intentional and not an accident.

Spotted it from Section TT at the other end of the court when it happened. If we weren’t short handed I would have loved to see somebody put the kid from High School Musical on his ass! Would love to see the league review and update his foul. Kid deserves to miss at least one game. It’s bush league to try and purposely injure someone.

Maybe next year first game against them Mr Fisher puts Noah on his ass on a screen? Maybe Rey then rejects a shot right into his face.

Any chance we can resign Will Ransom for a couple of games?

I'm now beginning to think that Muller told McIntosh to shove the opponent out of bounds with 2 seconds left in the NIT so he wouldn't have to face the Illini at Redbird Arena

What would have been the call here if Matt Hein was a Wichita State player when they played in the valley?

Flagrant foul on Hein because Ron Baker would have flopped like he was shot when Hein hit him in the face.

Thomas achieved the trifecta
- pull on Hein's hand
- elbow into Hein's gut
- smirk on Thomas' face

Man that makes me angry watching that. Surely that isn't all fan bias right? I mean non ISU fans would think that is intentional right?

I watched that whole thing. Hein can be abrasive, the Drake player was clearly annoyed. If Hein didn't have an injured hand it would have been nothing. I don't think the Drake targeted his hand, the hand was just in his facek, etc. Kinda of a knee jerk reaction that happens all the time. I'd loved to see a replay though.
