Obviously the best Mal has looked all year. Did not hesitate on the jumper and drove it to the free throw line and hit the fade away jumper. Still have winnable games on the schedule.

Valpo on the road?

Our talent level needs to improve dramatically!!!
This team has some talented pieces. We do not have long, athletic wing players who make baskets and can smother smaller guards. We are a smaller team. Foster can score, but we don’t have much in terms of post size beyond Walker with Lieb injured, and Lieb likes to be outside the arc.

For next year, this team is going to have to bring in at least 2 new starter-caliber players. If we don’t have people who are consistent outside threats, we have to have people who can score in a packed lane.

It is really disappointing how none of our returners have taken a step forward in development. All of them have been largely disappointing aside from Burford who has been inconsistent. We really needed Lewis to step up defensively on a day like today where the opponent had so much length and athleticism. I can't stand our defensive scheme.

Let’s be honest. We don’t have enough talent and it appears both our defensive and offensive schemes are lacking. Not a recipe for success. Raise some NIL and hit the portal. My opinion which only counts on what my ticket sales would be is management has one more year to really turn it around.

Kinziger, Poindexter, Wallace showed well today

Our offense reminded me of latter day HCDM's, plenty of perimeter passing not serving much of a purpose; defensively, it was just a bullfighter (ole')

The one area where this team is consistent is inconsistency

This was a heck of a play by Walker. We seem to be in a good spot with Johnny and Chase. Could use some production (probably athleticism too) out of the 2-4. Hopefully Pence, Norris, and Daugherty can be part of the solution in time.

1. Poindexter showed up. That gives me some hope for future. If he can do that consistently as we go forward our offense will get better. 2. Watched Drake/Indy state last night. They in general have better athletes than we do as does Bradley. What I noticed most in that game both teams FIGHT thru screens. We automatically switch screens which creates huge mismatches inside. Bradley killed us down low when we ended up with a guard on a big man. Drake did it to us as well. Not going my to practice I don’t know if that’s Pedon’s philosophy. But it seems the good teams don’t do that. I am ok with switching when it’s guards screening but when it’s a big man we have to contest it harder. 3. When we set the same screens we don’t force mismatched. In a way I understand that cause teams aren’t afraid of our shooting. On to UIC.

Nice layup exhibition by badley. Our D is not good

Shot 50% from 3, needed 60%

Two great plays by Walker that led to two Kinziger 3s. Play them.more. Both are scrappy

Badley rented the backroom at the Pub (not sure that's legal) pre and post game and are reportedly better tippers than Bird fans. Sad

That's actually almost as embarrassing as the game itself if they took over the Pub....on a Saturday no less which is always the ideal day drinking spot. Holy shit man, what is Normal coming to? Not surprised by the tipping though. One of the dudes I knew from school still bartends there and is always there on Sat afternoons and every time I'm there he's got new stories about how awful tippers the students are. I mean, I get it, broke college kids, but still. That plus being dominated in not one but two of our iconic buildings on the same day sucks some serious shit.

I'm quite sure our University administration and athletic administration is more proud of that trophy than they are disappointed in the mens basketball program. It's time all Redbird basketball fans face reality---our mens basketball program is just simply bad right now. Everyone saying we have talent? I beg to differ. I think our players and coaches want to win just as much as anyone. But we don't have the talent to do so. People calling Bradley PU and Buck Fradley? They just handed us our lunch on our floor. Their program is light years ahead of ours. We have no room to call any program any names. One can do that when the program maintains a high level of consistent play. We maintain a high level of consistently bad play. We have played on Thursday of the MVC tournament for the past several years. We are the laughing stock of the league and anyone who thinks we are close to being relevant is only fooling themselves. There was a time we could not get P5 teams to play us because they knew the possibility existed we could pull an upset. I would think P5 teams would be more than willing to play us now. I want us to return to the days of old when the arena was packed and we played at a high level. It's not going to happen anytime soon and that is just being a realist. It will soon be 26 years since we last played in the NCAA tournament. That is simply unacceptable.

Agree 1000 percent. I truly believe ISU basketball will not be relevant again unless there is a concerted effort in the President’s Office, Board of Trustees and athletic director’s office to make it relevant again. Unless alums vote by with holding funds from everything ISU I doubt you will get their attention. My guess is that very few donators care about men’s basketball.

Don’t we have equity department? If so, perhaps they can drag down the successful Redbird sport programs to match the level of the men’s basketball program.
You know…even things out a bit.
Problem solved.

Agree on Bradley, but their coach is apparently mean and says bad words…

I made the 3+ hour roundtrip to take this one in, knowing full well that what happened was the likely outcome. That said I do have a couple thoughts.

I was really happy to see Malachi get several shots to go down. I hope it carries forward the rest of the way because we are going to need the additional scoring to win some more games, and we are fully capable of winning more games with the remainder of our schedule.

My only other thought regarding the game from yesterday - there was a point in time when Duke Deen got switched on to Pence. What did we do? Nothing different than what we had been doing already. We had Pence camp out on the 3 point line while we ended up with a bad shot as the shot clock expired. It shouldn't be hard to recognize a 5'8 guard trying to defend a 6'6 wing, clear the side out, and have the 6'6 wing go post. If they double to help the 5'8 guard, you kick it out for an open shot. This isn't a tough concept, but damn if it isn't frustrating as hell to watch play out in real time with no actual adjustment.

Pub cheeseballs post game were good, and so was my bacon double cheeseburger. I didn't see a lot of Bradley people there, but we went in the front corner under the Black Friar picture so if those clowns were there, they weren't anywhere near us.

Was saying the same thing about Pence. Bradley kept getting us to switch and taking advice of the mismatch. We had the mismatch with Pence and never once took advantage of it. Should have already been prepared for in practice. That really makes me question Pedon’s coaching ability.
