I was unable to watch the game- so I followed it on the ISU ESPN app on my phone. Once again it was WRONG! I was burning as we kept giving the game away the last 2 min....but then it showed a final that we held on and won 56-55? I thought we got very lucky- till I got home and saw that once again they posted the final WRONG!! I deleted this awful ISU sports app off my phone-- and may delete watching my Birds for a while too.

The ISU app had it wrong for me but the ESPN app had it wrong.

And it's not ISU's fault. The person in charge tweeted how it happened last time. I'll try and find it.

Best to just assume that any report of an ISU men’s basketball victory couldn’t possibly be accurate.

Here's the reason. It happens when things happen at the buzzer because it's automated from ESPN at the buzzer.

Ironic that the best defensive effort we give all season results in a loss like that. Also a little karmic that they beat us on a half courter that gets on the SC Top 10, after Maddie's dunk on their guy did the same thing last year.

But what really burns is the fact that we blew two double digit second half leads, held them scoreless for a big chunk of the second half but couldn't put them away, missed FTs and totally collapsed down the stretch. Break it down however you want but we let them hang around instead of stepping on the gas. We deserved to lose.

Garbage game, again. I was ripped mercilessly in November when I said we'd be lucky to finish .500. Well now...

ISU never trailed in the second half while the clock was running. Only after the buzzer, when it actually counts. Vintage Redbirds.

I’m not going to be a front runner! This is on Dan! These are his guys, he recruited! This is his team...his rules! You don’t beat a zone press by dribbling on three different occasions up the court...without passing the ball once! The one time they got the ball up court and missed the front end of a one and one was when they passed out of it!

Exactly what I said a few pages ago!

The counting is your job to prove since you called it out.

About infinity to zero. (About infinity times it is someone else's fault, zero times Dan's fault)
The point is it isn't worth arguing over. The coaches and team needs to fix it together and move on.
As far as player leadership goes on the court, I assume that means which ones can bring out the best from their teammates. For players to be leaders, they need to 100% convey the same message as the coach. Dan has made it clear that Milik, Evans and Tinsley are not team leaders. Their teammates will not look at them that way because of how much time they spend in the dog house with Dan. At this time, we have one senior that has the potential to be the leader and that is Phil. If I were Dan and the coaching staff, I would be meeting with Phil on how to bring out the most from their teammates.

Nice counting. Please, do some objective looking. Did you bother reading my last paragraph on that post?

As for the "leaders", Dan's comments prove my point. By saying Key, MY, and Boogie are not leaders he is saying that from the point that he expects them to be leaders. Dan's expressing his disappointment in that they are not being the team leaders he needs them to be. ALL seniors are EXPECTED to be team leaders.

In the end I think your argument with me is that I'm not blaming Dan when the players make stupid, freshman mistakes, even tho they're seniors.

If DM puts an emphasis on senior leadership, then he needs to recruit those type of players that exhibit that leadership at the high school and juco level. I find it hard to believe the seniors that he called out exhibited leadership qualities in their earlier careers and just shut it off when they got to ISU.

Last year, I thought Copeland and Chastain were assuming that leadership role even though they weren’t playing. Is that not the case with them actually playing this year? Why do we need all of these other players to be called out publicly for not being leaders? It doesn’t seem to be making a difference. I just feel like DM calling out seniors is coach speak and deflecting from that he has no clue how to reach this team that HE put together.

Actually, no, I don't agree. Muller called for MY to definitely hit the shooter on the arms.

Seems very generous right now, although as is well documented I am not the best predictor of finishes.

So much discussion on this board about individual plays, technical aspects of games, what-ifs, and refereeing. So little discussion on this board about lack of leadership, lack of communication, lack of discipline, lack of team unity on basic basketball principles and fundamentals, and demonstrably poor attitudes of some of the top players and upperclassmen.

I mean.....did anyone notice that when Yarbrough passed to Jefferson on the break late in the game last night and the ball went off Jefferson's hands and out of bounds that Yarbrough sprinted down the court like a little baby throwing his rattle that his teammate didn't catch his bad pass and convert a layup? How does a team win when that kind of stuff is happening?

We have reached a point that when anything goes wrong on the court, that ISU's players completely panic and transform into a group of wildlings. The best word I can think of is pathetic.

I would guess at this point, the starting lineup at the end of the year will be:

Fayne
Bruninga
Chastain
Copeland
Evans

Not sure if Yarbrough will even make it to the end.

Tinsley and Jefferson seem like they spend their nights telling each other how this isn't what they signed up for and feeling sorry for themselves.

Not worried about Rey. Not worried about Hein. Not worried about Gassman.

This starts from the top. Muller lets these guys get away with anything they want off the court, why would you expect leadership on the court?

Yarbrough should have been kicked off the team multiple times. Tinsley probably should have been gone when he hit a woman as well.

None of this surprises me.

Milik had 3 fouls in the last 36 seconds. What killed the Birds it that he had only 1 foul going into that bout of stupidity. Needed him fouled out.

I tried, but was called out for calling out bad play by the players.
