What a game!!! I thought we were in big trouble at half - being down 11 and with a wonderful record of 1-11 when behind at half.

The inside out passing was a huge key to hitting all of those 3's in the second half. Just absolute horrible foul calls on Yarbrough and Ndiaye in the second half.

I really liked Muller's post game comments - about who he played in the second half. I agree with others, Clarance future looks bright - he has to understand he is NOT a one man show on offense and he has to move his feet and have lateral quickness on defense. Tinsley and Gassman hitting 3's were the difference - they stepped into those shots, with proper leg work, good arch, and followed through. Gassman defense on Koch was very good - I like his grit.

EC is absolutely going to be a stud. Game needs to slow down just a tad more for him on the defensive end. Intensity is there, the decision making isn't.

Dan said on the radio postgame that he was riding the hot hands in the 2nd half, so that could have done it as well. We were hitting from 3, so taking the wings out wasn't in the cards.

Keyshawn played like a man possessed when MY got his 4th foul. He was pissed, and drove 2 straight times putting pressure on the refs and the UNI defense. Loved to see the fire from him.

I hope one certain ref from that crew never works another ISU game again. He was absolute trash.

Just watched the game. That first half was tough with that long draught we had. Got to give to the guys because they came out in the second half like men pissed off. This is the Tinsley I have been waiting for! When Yarbrough plays like this the whole team looks better. His passing out of the double teams was huge. If he can keep doing that then those double teams will stop like they did tonight. Gassman gives it his all and he has a nice stroke. Feeling much better after this game.

So if we have nothing to play for and should be giving guys experience, why is everyone mad when we lose?

I’m not mad that we lose. I’m mad that we suck. Losing is just the icing on the suck cake.
No icing for you.
That’s a good thing!

EC is going to be a stud.

This comment still reflects people judging him based on his incoming hype IMO. Is he athletic? Yes. But that doesn’t always translate into becoming a stud. Seen too many flame outs of would be future studs in this program to get excited until I actually see stud like performance.

There must be some satisfaction in saying “I said <insert player name> was going to be a stud when he was a freshmen”, if he actually turns out to be one. He isn’t a stock you are buying low. There’s no actual payoff to be first to that party. And do you own it when the player doesn’t pan out? Where are all the “I thought Justin Clark was going to be a stud” mea culpa‘s?

I’ll just continue to impatiently wait for actual evidence of studliness.

Yesterday's second half = Rainbows & Puppy Dogs. Now that was enjoyable!!!

I must say at halftime I was so frustrated with this team. Made sure I stopped to editorialize
with Sarge on how tickled I was that Madison was planted on the bench.....where he belonged and other offerings
I'm sure about William. My 2 favorite targets.

What can I say....Tinsley shot with confidence and MW's 7 points were great/clutch at really important points of 2nd half.
Tinsley felt it and had a swagger on both ends of the floor.
Loved it that Muller stuck with the hot hands/tempo of that group on the floor in 2nd half.
Once again, MY makes my season ticket prices seem like a steal.

Let's do it again on Wednesday vs. Drake - should be an excellent game/crowd.

6,535 at the game. Last 11 minutes of first half was hard to watch but the second half we played with confidence. I thoight the croen was engaged the second half.

I agree with others that Elijah needs to be able to play without worrying he is going to get pulled quckly. He got pulled after

1. A goaltending which was defensive mistake by someone else
2. A jumper in the lane that was half way down which I thought was a good shot
3. In the second half he let his guy drive by him and he never saw the floor again

Btw if we put the fear of God in him that he can't miss a jumper and he doesn't shoot, teams will just sag off of him and take away the drive which is his biggest asset.

I personally hope Phil comes back against Drake. I would like to beat them and potential get the 3 seed. It would be nice to be on the other side of the bracket of Loyola. It would also help to knock off the Cobb webbs prior to the MVC tournament. I would not be surprised by any outcome in St. Louis from losing the first game to winning it all. I am sure there are a few other teams saying the same thing though.
Twice on consecutive possessions. Both times he got caught anticipating a pick that wasn't there and moved the wrong way.

Also pulled after a god-awful over-the-head alleyoop pass to a completely unprepared Ndiaye. It may have looked like a shot to most people, but from my angle it was definitely a pass.

EC needs to learn to play a little more under control.

And if we lost this game because EC wasn't under control and gave the ball away a couple times too many . . . what would folks be saying then?
I am a huge EC fan and think he is gonna be a stud. But his defensive effort on those 2 plays was pathetic and I’m not mad he got benched. He will be out there again Wednesday and will probably have an increased intensity on that side of
The court. Was nice to see him hit a 3 though, with a jumper, he is unstoppable in the valley.
I agree completely. I think EC has a great future but his defense yesterday was pretty bad. Just looks like fundamentals to me so do think he will get it.

Put my name on the "EC is going to be a stud" poster. Bolder past predictions during Freshman seasons would have been:

"Dinma is going to be a stud."
"Hein is going to be reliable bringing the ball up court."

I remember seeing the talent in Nic Moore too, but it took him over half a season to get it figured out.

Like I said earlier dan went with the hot team. I think it was more about that than EC getting yanked. He did get beat bad a couple of times but the 6 players we mostly went with were shooting lights out. Good coaching choice!

I agree with this. I don't think EC getting benched had much to do with him, and more to do with our team rallying and stayin with the hot hands. EC has a high ceiling, and a boat load of potential. I think he and TB are going to have very good careers here.

I thought yesterday was the most clicked in on defense that I've seen MY all year. He was taking his defense on Koch very seriously, loved seeing that.

I also loved seeing Boogie on fire from beyond the arc. If he keeps this going the rest of the year we are going to be hard to beat on the valley tourney.

Really proud of Gassman yesterday. I think he took the biggest step forward overall. Shot well, moved well with and without the ball, and played surprisingly good defense.

Speaking of defense, yesterday was the first time all season that I heard the guys talking to each other and calling out screens and switches and such. I think that was huge.

My only negative is that I think as a whole we need to work on rebounding. We don't box out on rebounds hardly at all and rely a lot on athleticism.

Whatever we do this year, I think next year is going to be a lot of fun, assuming this team returns intact.

DW - good post. I'm focused on the NOW and still am naive enough to think they can
peak at St. Louis. Then after a quick and one and done at Big Dance, overdose on the off-season kool-aid for
next year.

Timmer is also shooting 46% from the field and 43.6 from 3.

EC is 26.2 from the field and 9% from 3. Until Clarence fixes his shot he's going to struggle. He has a long way to go to be a stud or even in the same ballpark of a player as Timmer.

What a showing from deep yesterday. Can't win every game like that, but when Fayne and Brininga are out and the refs are calling nothing fouls on all of our bigs, you gotta adjust.

How about Boogie and Clarence? Love watching it click.

Officially out of Thursday! Now, just get healthy.

He has shown some flashes. Evans had a terrible freshman year too.

Reed Timmer is a Senior that has just about completed his 4th season as compared to maybe half of his Freshman season!

To be completely fair to EC, Reed Timmer is a Senior who has played/developed over 4 full seasons, where as EC has had almost half a season.

His shot looks weird coming out of his hands, but it's not terrible. I honestly think his low percentage has more to do with him rushing. A lot of the times when EC is in the game he is too sped up, and gets ahead of himself. I think this is what causes his silly turnovers and missed shots. The last couple of games he has looked more comfortable. He looked it early in the game, and then I thought he got a little in his head.

That being said, I don't think EC and Reed Timmer are going to be similar players. I think EC is going to be an extremely good dribble driver, and likely make a living either kicking it out to shooters or going to line.

Speedy-EC...during one of those early moments on the floor....one of his quick moves made me swoon about the hopeful future. I agree...control...then it would be nice if MY influenced EC.

MY...once I saw his first good series...I was sold. GENES helped me to be excited about MY.

Hein...can get the ball down the floor. He can defend well...but I also think Hein is more the team player than anyone else.

Gassman was incredible last night. KUDOS.
Tinsley!!!!

What really excited me with Gassman and Tinsley...they both were so thankful and shown appreciatiion to MY !!!

This year's issues and its ability to play EVERYONE on the bench (except Romine)...isn't this the way college ball should be? Every player showed me some glimmer of great hope for this team. If given a healthy chance....they could gel and conquer.
