Thanks to HC Spack, OC Peterson, QB Annexstad (FBS transfer), all 3 WRs below (2 PWOs, and a D-II transfer), and our RBs Blakemore (FBS transfer), Mueller, Wright ... all for putting out offense back on the map as a desirable destination for portal and HS recruits.

let's keep doing this !!!

Interesting post from Missouri State Raylen Sharpe 5'9 enter the portal the kid can fly 4.3 speedy slot. Then decided to pull himself out of the portal. Had a few FBS offers. Then pull himself out of the portal... Guess MS had some NIL Money ..

We are behind the NILs at SIU, Valpo, UIC and Bradley. Obviously, 3 of those schools don't have to fund football that allows them to have even a bigger advantage in basketball.

Can we put Rubley & Rittenhouse in the "V formation"? ;)

Not sure why we still argue these things .. if it's good enough Denzil Washington and Matthew McConaughey, i think it's good enough for ISU.

In fact, our OC is from Marshall as player and coach !!

I rest my case. 🥵

UNI loses a LB to the Badgers in the portal - Jahsiah Galvan. Have no idea how much he contributed, but obviously someone at UW liked it:

Bummer for UNI - and what all FCS schools, especially Valley schools are afraid of - Big Ten poaching good players, with NIL (TV) money.

Impressive kid .. RS FR LB led UNI team in total tackles, made Steeles FR All American team, but only 5th teams all MVFC. 6'3" but just 202 lbs as listed.

Yep, FCS schools will continue to lose some very talented players to FBS but not just for NIL money. The chance to play at bigger schools and gain more exposure is a good thing for those players that were late developers or just overlooked coming out of High School. John Ridgeway jumps to mind. He would have been awesome if he had stayed in Normal but the exposure and experience of playing at Arkansas against stronger talent had to be beneficial to him. Sad for the FCS team and their fans but I think this is a good thing for certain players in the current state of college football. Every Ying has a Yang and in this case I think it is for those players that jump up but it does not work out for whatever reason. Ridgeway was about as close to a sure thing as it gets IMHO. I don't recall this UNI LB but wish him well with the Badgers.

More reason to move up .. Georgia St is even winning a bowl game and never go close to a FCS championship game.

For fuller context .... Georgia St is 5-6 against 94th ranked FBS teams, and ranked #97 by Massey playing against another 5-6 against FBS ranked #92 in a Bowl game that amounts to going to the prom with your step-sister. Each of the team's 6th wins were FCS. Neither is a playoff resume nor a compelling schedule.

And Georgia St beat 6-5 Rhode Island by 7 at home.

So, no thanks - wouldn't trade places for that .. that just doesn't seem better than making a real playoff and playing in the MVFC.

Fourth please give me your equal characterization of an university that has one of the largest enrollments for FCS football playoff candidates, has one of the better academic rankings for FCS playoffs, has one of the largest athletic budgets for FCS playoffs, have favorable facilities for FCS football playoffs yet the university has only made the FCS playoffs once in the last 7 years.

That wasn't really the point I was driving at. But relative to earning playoff spots, we are much closer to truly earning playoff spots than Georgia St, which are far more selective in FCS. And while playing in the toughest conference over the entire Spack era.

Probably not the answer you wanted

i was actually looking for a good laugh...as an aside you think it is easier for Georgia St to get an FBS playoff spot than for ISU to get an FCS playoff spot? Currently only 4 FBS playoff spots although soon to be 12 vs 24 for FCS.

Sorry for missing your alley oop .. wasn''t ready for it.

Note, by playoff I meant Bowl Game. It's just nuts that FBS added so many FCS teams, and more and more teams like Georgia St can get a bid. That a 6-6 G-5 team with a very weak FCS win, against that #97 SOS gets a Bowl is mind boggling. Here's an idea that would seem much more optically less bothersome ... designate a certain # of Bowl Games to G-5 teams only, and only the G-5 teams who earned a P-5 "real" bowl game could get a legit P5 bid. And teams like Georgia St vs Utah St with equally bad resumes, could only possibly get a G5 Bowl bid ... but please please please call it a G5 Bowl Bid.

I'll await a call from NCAA ... ;)

You would rather have players leave and not take the 300,000 payout..gotcha.

There are 17 former FCS schools playing or have already played in bowl games this season.

Wondering how many of those teams are at least breaking even with their football budgets?

Would be interesting to see how much we even made when we went to the FCS Championship? We were on the road the entire time ti seems. I'd easily make a road trip to Oxford OHI to watch us play Miami of Ohio than to drive out to Brookings SD or even Cedar Falls (UNI) . As for a bowl, yes to me a bowl victory over a fellow FBS team in Mobile AL trumps winning an FCS Championship (which is like a JV Tourney of Football). Sorry to the FCS lowers of Stony Brook, EIU, etc. Look for Montana, SD State, SD, ND, NDakota State, Idaho and others to jump to FBS. But hey we'll still get to play in front of 3000 in Terre Haute
