ISU was picked eighth in the preseason poll this morning. Darius is a preseason third-team selection.

I'll say it. I don't understand the Bradley love. Third seems way too high for me. Belmont is also getting a ton of love after losing so much. I get they are a solid program, but we shall see. ISU is obviously not getting the same credit other programs in the league are getting in terms of newcomers.

We shall see. I think eighth is too low.

I have Drake, UNI and Indy State as top 3. I think 4-8 as being pretty wide open.

And yes, Dana did pull a Dan and vote his team 1. No sources but they have a lot of similarities in the way they go about running their programs.

I always think of Royce Waltman when it comes to a coach voting his team first place in preseason.

I do think the Redbirds will be the sexy pick as the team to surprise people/the team to watch across the board. Where they do finish will certainly be interesting.

Excited to see how they look in games against other teams, even that game against Wesleyan. Scrimmages usually aren’t that telling in my opinion. I do think they’ll be better though.

I would much rather be picked 8th and be pleasantly surprised and outperform that rank than be picked higher and under perform. It's been a long time since we have warranted any type of respect. The way I see it is that is where we deserve to be picked until Pedon and Co prove otherwise. Here's to hoping they Suprise the valley! 🍻

Make sure to check out the end of his presser, linked above. Instead of taking a couple more questions from the media he has two points he wants to make sure he gets out there. Really shows what is important to him. Hard not to be excited going into the season.

Great stuff from Coach and the boys. Loving the confidence and, without really saying it, embracing the sleeper vibe with a chip. They know we should be improved and are ready to be a tough out. They seem focused. It's great to have some legitimate enthusiasm again. Looking forward to getting this thing started.

Did Lewis get any votes for 3rd team? Guy does a lot of little things on the court that apparently go unnoticed.

I think anywhere from 4-8 seems right and think there will be a battle in the conference for that fourth spot. I think if the injury bug stays away we could have a shot at finishing 3rd. The work these guys have put in and the improved talent in the roster is huge. Time will tell. Anyone else check out tickets down in Kentucky? Wow pricey compared to Wisconsin.

It was telling from the point that no one seemed to be trying to do too much. I heard that same thing more than once. They are comfortable in their roles/spots and the trust was glaring on the court from the start. I’ve always said knowing and loving your roles makes the difference in winning and losing in basketball. Yes as usual I have high hopes but I see them finishing 5th or better this year. As for the rankings, it’s pretty much based on last seasons performance with some new additions for all teams pretty much except UNI.

I'm surprised to see Burford on the all-MVC team. I know there is reason to be excited about him - he was one of my favorite players last year - but I don't even know if he will start. It sounds likely that Banks has been given the keys at PG. I imagine Poindexter, Burford and Kasubke will be fighting for that starting SG spot.
