Just to bad Garcia's is not back - I loved the promotion back then. If the margin of victory matched your seat number - Free Slice from Garcias!!!!!!
I LOVED the Garcia's Pizza Lotto! I seemed to win fairly regularly. I don't think the Illinois Lottery was a thing back then. If so, I should have been playing it because I think I used up most of my luck on Garcia's Pizza 🤷

Would be an awesome DP Dough throwback promo. Win a Horton Zone! 12 pepperoni (unseparated) wedged into a space with room for 10.

Long shot here but does anyone have an extra poster from this game for sale? I dont live in town, couldnt figure out how to get a hold of this thing without being at the bar that one night it was sold.

Obviously willing to pay for shipping cost and supplies.

Check with the artist. maybe dpdough can help you out getting a hold of him.

I have an extra novelty ticket they handed out at the game if you want that.

I will go and say what has already said but here we go
-Hats off to Athletics and the administration for pulling that out, what a game, what an experience.
-Horton lived up to the stories I've heard, enjoyed hearing where people sat at during the 1984 game vs #9 Tulsa and so forth. The place was definitely electric and energized.
-Sissoko block, wow. Speechless, still amazed how he caught and made that block.
-Sandage, wish we had him for more then 1 year. Dude plays his butt off. Sandage and Kendall are certainly leaders of this team in terms of effort and energy.
-Poindexter, Sandage and Burford all shoot over 90% from the free line, over the course of a year that is going to win you a lot of games when you can put in 3 guards who can handle the ball and shoot over 90%.
-Hope they do this again but want it to be just as special. Part of what made yesterday fun was hearing how much work they had to put into it but also being completely energized because we don't know if this will happen again. That's what made Saturday so special.
-In the end there is just something about Horton.

Most of the season, I have just been scratching my head that the previous staff didn't give Sandy a look out of BHS. He tore his ACL the fall of his senior year playing football after committing to UT-Arlington. I'm sure the JuCo route probably would've been the case anyway bit still could've reached out during Juco recruitment.

Anyway, the game was incredible. The atmosphere was great. I think they absolute BEST thing admin did, though some were upset about it, is to NOT include this with the season ticket package. That way, you know with 100% certainty that the fans there WANTED to be there and it didn't feel like an obligation. It was an event.

I mentioned in another thread, but there was a big miss with how halftime was managed. But if that's the biggest complaint, I'd say it all went pretty well.

Another bummer is that there isn't another home game for 9 days. I know finals week plays a role but it would be great to see if the crowd momentum would carry over back into RBA. The fans seemed reenergized and I worry the long layoff might impact it when the Birds return to Redbird.

I've watched Sissoko's block too many times to count. When the ball is stolen at midcourt, he's standing near The Valley logo in the paint. Absolutely incredible. To that point in the game, I thought the play people were going to be talking about was The General's put back dunk.

One thing I absolutely love about this team is that when the offense is struggling and shots aren't falling, they ATTACK the basket and get to the free throw line. I saw some folks on Twitter that said there was home cooking due to the FT discrepancy. I didn't see it that way. I saw the Birds doing what Pedon said they would do, be the aggressors and playing through the paint. I think when he said that originally, most thought "Yes! He's going to have a back to the basket true 5, who they can post up and play around." Which, sure, maybe that is the ultimate goal, but for now, paint touches can come via attacking the hoop.

Getting to the line and making their shots is going to be huge for this team. In losses this year they've gone to the line: 25 (WIU), 12 (vs NWST), 14 (vs LSU), 15 (WKU), 17 (URI), and 6 (Murray). In wins, 13 (EIU), 31 (NWST), 18 (Belmont), 34 (EMU), and 27 (SIUE). For the most part, you can see a correlation between number of times at the charity stripe and wins. It helps when they're hitting at in %80+ clip, too. You'll win a lot of close games shooting like that from the line.

Bryan B took my number and I'm due for 2. He hasn't called me yet though. Get me your info and when he calls I can pass it along or I can buy yours and we can work details out later.

That was awesome! What was that ref gonna do? Throw Doug out of his own house!!
We were sitting close to Doug (of course, a lot of people were close) and I've gotta tell you...that was quite enjoyable and well-earned by the official, bless his heart. Doug put his popcorn down, got up out of his seat, and took a 10 foot walk TO the official. Official didn't even look at Doug. He took it like a pro. lousy Lousy LOUSY call. No swear words by Collins, btw. And if you notice even Mrs. Jet stood up.

Hey Humdinger - If you don’t mind could you add me as well. I live in Dunlap and couldn’t get to DP. Would love to get one as well if it works out. Just didn’t know how to get in touch with the artist. Appreciate the consideration. Thanks

A Dunk....Sandage was from Illinois and not left handed and not overly athletic. He definitely did not fit the Muller mold. I am surprised
NO. Iowa missed him.

Ironically, those of us not at Horton probably would not have appreciated the play as much if the game was at CEFCU. The above court camera not being "centered" (aligned with the free throw line, always an interesting quirk for the Field House) gave us the angle to see Sissoko traverse the 3/4 court. Some of that distance is lost at the Arena.

Well Bradley, SIU, UIC, UNI, Loyola, Belmont, Drake, and almost every Division 1 team in the Midwest missed on him too.

There is plenty to criticize Muller about but I am passing on him not recruiting Colton.

Colton tore is ACL and the new coaching staff at UTA was not interested. He went to Vincennes and started 13 of 33 games his second year and 4 of 35 his first year at Vincennes. Here are the stats from the second year.

PTS/G
8.7
FG %
39.1
3PT %
34.3
FT %
78.7

I dont think the stats would have turned many heads but what Colton brings doesnt show up in the box score. We all see it and I think thats what everyone admires the most about him.
The last two games were great and he deservingly was MVC newcomer of the week. I guess one sign ALL coaches could have as an indicator of Colton's passion and work ethic would have been he injured his knee in football and played the last 3 games of his senior season.

Give Western Illinois credit for signing him.
