For the birds, I think we drop the next game to UCF. I think we sweep E-Ville, Valpo, and INSU, then I think we split with Mo St, SIU, Bradley,Drake, UNI and Loyola to finish 12 and 6 in the valley. I think that puts us in second or third. With an order probably something like 1. Loyola 2. SIU 3. ISU 4. Bradley 5. Drake 6. E-Ville 7.MoSt 8. UNI 9. INSU 10. Valpo

Other predictions:

Josh wins new comer of the year. Fayne and Yarbs make the first team, JJ ends up on the 2nd team.

I would flip Evansville and Mo State in the sweep / split. My Aces have really surprised me this year. Last second loss at Murray State last night really surprised me.

I could see it. I like the way that McCarty has E-Ville looking and I think they'll be good sooner than later (though I think the same with MoSt as well). I also like McCarty hiring Lickliter as an assistant. The future of the Valley could be brighter than the present.

Since ISU has looked very inconsistent so far, I will pick them first. Since SIU has probably looked the best non-conference, I will pick them last. This does not seem to be the year to betting Valley games. I feel their will be a lot of head scratchers.
ISU Redbirds(13-5)
Valpo(12-6)
Loyola(11-7)
Drake(9-9)
Indiana State(9-9)
Bradley(9-9)
Northern Iowa(8-10)
Evansville(8-10)
Missouri State(6-12)
SIU(5-13)

I think this has about zero percent chance of being accurate, but here are the project standings from Warren Nolan RPI.

Do you know if that is based solely on the way teams have played so far this year? or are there more factors?

From their site:
Predicted Conference Standings is a prediction of each team's final conference record based on this season's previous results. Each team's predicted overall record is also shown.

Basically the RPI looks at both teams, gives a little weight to home games, and then spits out a result.

But the RPI still swings by 20+ points for teams each games even this far into December, so you can't put much stock into it even now. Can't trust RPI until late January at the earliest.

These are always fun to look at.

I thought the funniest one was Texas Tech finishing 18-0 and seven games clear of Kansas which has won the league like 234 consecutive years.

The Valley looks way worse than I expected, but I still think ISU is the best of the bunch. I have us as the #1 seed in St. Louis and SHOULD be able to go chalk on that.

With the non-con wrapping up, and us heading into conference play, I wanted to take a stab at our "heading into the MVC tourney" record...

19-12.

I think we lose the game at UCF, bringing us to 7-6 on the non-con slate.
I think we sweep Missouri State, Valpo, Evansville, and Northern Iowa, and take 1 from everyone else but Southern. I think SIU beats us twice. That gives us a conference record of 12-6.

Optimistic? Probably. But I just don't see us losing to any of the bottom 4 no matter where the game is played, and I think we can snag 1 win from everyone else. SIU or Loyola probably steals one in Redbird, and I'm thinking SIU.

19-12 was on my low end of expectations heading into this season. Now it seems like that'll be an optimistic point of view.

8-10 but we get to MVC title game

As bad as the whole conference is doing, I think we are really going to see who is the best coach in the Valley. Getting their team to turn it around for Valley play is going to be a challenge.

And we get the #1 seed . . . how, do you ask? . . . The play in some games is so bad the conference gives both teams a loss.

I don't see this team winning a regular season championship, no matter the quality of teams in the league. To win a regular season title you have to be consistent for a long period of time. This team has yet to show it can play good basketball for more than 2 minutes at a time, let alone play that way for 2 months.

Can they pull something off in St. Louis? Possible and more realistic.

At this point what they are playing for is not playing on Thursday and I would prefer to stay out of the 3/6 game so you don't play with short rest all weekend.

Ridiculous! When was the last time a team had 8 opponents forfeit in the same season.

Been a fan for a long time. But I call it as I see it. I think we will have trouble having a 10-8 record in conference. Too many mistakes, bad passes, weak defense, poor shooting on 3s, etc. and nothing changes! Two seniors have regressed terribly and the juco transfers are still adjusting. It is incredible, and especially this year, that so many other teams are more competitive than we are.
