I was there and couldn't believe what happened in the last 15 seconds

Yup…BRMM played the most physical defense that year and some how was never called for a foul…. And you nailed it… 85s kid still hasn’t seen a shot he doesn’t like…

It’s too bad TPguy wasn’t there to show all of us how he taught Doug Collins to shoot. That could’ve been valuable for everyone.
I was playing on the Boston Celtics that afternoon and couldn't make it.

Welcome to life as a Redbirdfan dealing with the sad excuse of a ticket office
I got them in my wallet ... I just can't transfer to others like the season tickets. I called the ticket office and the person could see what happened and she recommended screen shooting pictures of bar codes and then texting. I have done that and printed the tickets FWIW

Your paper tickets may not work if you got them from someone that regularly shares with friends or clients.

I used Radio Bloomington’s paper tickets on Wednesday. They were rejected at the entrance, with the scanner saying they had been transferred to someone else.

Thankfully a friend who works in Redbird Athletics walked past as I was about to give up and vouched for me and my boys so they let us in.

Just because you have a hard printed ticket from our ticket office doesn’t mean there’s not also an electronic version that might invalidate them.

Radio Bloomington is now double-checking all of their tickets to ensure this doesn’t happen again.

Sharing this in case anyone is getting tickets from a friend. Not sure if you can contact the ticket office to confirm your tickets are good in advance, but it might be worth the call/email to make sure you’re not turned away from Horton.

Like a beer keg at third base in a softball league, that early morning scrimmage needed coffee pots and oxygen tanks under each basket.

That morning convinced me to get back in shape; I’ve never felt so physically wiped out afterwards.

Think we can bring this game back?
I'd love to. We did it two or three years in a row. The early morning games were tough, the games that started around 8PM went much better. :ROFLMAO:

I doubt GoBirds is up for it, though. His ankles are still broken from my shake & bake ball handling. He still has nightmares of me hitting jumper, after jumper, after jumper.

I did contact the office. These were the tickets I bought and was trying to get them to others. I did the screen shot like the ticket office suggested. I orinted them as well on Wednesday as a backup.

Did you hit your head on the floor during the game? Dude, my ankles were sore from driving by you every time I decided to take it to the rack and dunk over you. I landed funny on the last windmill slam and that slowed me up a bit. I believe after that, I only shot 75% from the field, but my 23 assists seem to help propel us over your team of so called "Redbird students." Can you say ringers?

I think we need a get-together and we settle this once and for all. Dunk'ers vs RedbirdtheOcho. In the alley behind Fiala Brosefs. (hmmmn is there an alley back there?) OH, one other thing. It's Nerf Basketball. I'll see if I can locate the DePaul crew that officiated back in '88, that way the lies from this juggernaut matchup get bigger and bigger. I see a West Side Story theme comin' on, here.

Or maybe we slip Facilities a few bucks to leave the court up at Horton overnight before taking it back next door…

My C league team actually played, one year, on the main court. This infuriated several of my buddies who were playing on A and B league teams and were relegated to the side "rubber" floor courts. Ethel the Frog was the name of our team, I believe it might have been an obscure Monty Python reference but as bad as we were it really didn't matter. I'm really going to miss being at tomorrow's game. Dammit.

Our C league team got to play on the floor twice, too much running for me.

So here's my idea for this yearly game.....call it Winter Homecoming.

Try and get an opponent that would really rev up the crowd but not a conference team. Loyola (IL), Wichita State, Creighton perhaps.
Have some events leading up to it (tailgating? / taste of redbirds in the North Gym).
Acknowledge any alumni players at halftime by name.
Have the WBB play afterwards.
Keep it the weekend before finals too.
Continue to include Doug Collins as much as possible!.

I was thinking about this today as well. Would be pretty easy to play a second game with everything all set up. WBB at 3 and MBB at 7 or something like that would be awesome for both teams to be able to experience.

I've seen a lot of posts on twitter about high schools doing this, usually for a rivalry game and it seems to work incredibly well. Packed gyms, great atmospheres etc. Would love to see this in Normal. Mel's idea above is great. An early December tilt would be the right time to do it.
