Had been hearing this for a while, just honestly kind of wondering what took so long. The team has been on campus a couple of weeks working together and doing team-building stuff. As it seems most years with the Birds, its basically a new team. He going to be a smidge behind when it comes to building that chemistry with the new guys. I look forward to him getting back to campus and gelling with his new teammates.

After a guy "enters the draft" and then returns to school there are a couple things that can happen. 1. He can take what information he learned and apply it to make the team better. 2. He can take what information he learned and use it to focus on making himself better/getting better film. We'll see what happens but I'm hoping for a nice year for him and the Birds.

And part of #2 is that the chance is there for him to show some leadership. He's the most senior player (years in the program). It's right there for him to "be the man". Get everyone on track and get after it.

This is good news for the program. I am still doubting we have a top 1/2 of the MVC team, but Antonio will make us a better squad. At times, he can get on a roll. At other times, he disappears. I hope he learned something over the summer about intensity and hard work. Maybe TWills will bring some intensity to the defensive end and a higher BBIQ for Antonio and many others.

That adds at least 3 wins to the total this year. Still, so many untested and new players. I would LOVE to have Tony down there teaching the freshmen how to be in the right position and play Tony Wills D. That guys was LOCK DOWN.

Welcome back Reeves.

Well . . . I'm sure that some on here now think that means we'll have 3 wins for the season.

So is it safe to say this is Reeves' team then? I think ADunk is right, this could go one of two ways. I am hoping it is the coming back with a chip in his shoulder ready lead the team. He needs to show that he can carry a team and make those around him better. Welcome back Tone!

Phew. *Wipe forehead* I was worried we were only going to win 7 games. Now, I'm confident it will be 8.

I’m wiping the slate clean and giving this group an open minded view.
Who’s to say Coach R Johnson isn’t a Diamond. A guy that been waiting to join a staff with a HUGE Upside - and he’s chosen well on that front. Wills has to help too.
Maybe they get through to 2 kids who left their respective teams in the past season and the Irish named kid from Canada/Utah State finds a home and is Special.

FWIW . . .

Just browsed this guys twitter/website. Really seems to do his work to learn about teams big to small. Doesn't take the lazy way out...his Way-To-Early top 25 isn't just a cut and paste of last year's results. I'll note that he has Drake as the MVC rep in his bracketology.

All that said, I can't believe this hack had anything positive to say about Dan Muller's Redbird debacle.

1. Reeves coming back doesn’t hurt.
2. At the least an interesting class of recruits
3. Like another poster will keep an open mind and hope for significant improvement

Heard that attitudes are much better than last year so far. Guessing that is more Covid related and maybe kids being a year older and know what to expect in summer workouts. Chatam is the sleeper this year if he can manage his focus. Got the talent to contribute a lot.
