This would be my guess as well. Its probably not monetarily an option for a lot of players.
In the "dark side" of the business, I've heard of many times where an underclassmen will "test the waters" and "not sign and agent" to keep eligibility. However, agents will front the cost under the table if there is some level of promise that once the kid decides to go pro, they sign with said agent. Its a fascinating business to follow.

Didn't Jackie and Osiris both declare for the draft early only to get told they were not going to get drafted and pull back? Am I misremembering that?

Rules were different back then. Both went to camps where they got feedback from scouts. Both tried to change their game to get drafted.

Am I missing something? Is declaring for the draft automatically putting you in the transfer portal or something?

can he sign up with an agent and still have eligibility?

Yeah, for a few years now. I'm not sure of the specific rules but you can at least openly consult agents now I dont know if you can sign.

I used to broadcast college and CBA basketball. Grand rapids Hoops Coach Cazzie Russell told me what the fans want from a pro is 'consistency'. They don't want to buy tickets to games when the players have an off game. Not saying Reeves is not consistent... but he often didn't show up for the whole game. Just a thought.

It’s kind of funny, now in the NBA you buy a ticket and half of the players sit out.

I’m pretty sure you could say the same thing for every coach out there. They want their players to be consistent.

As I mentioned in another thread, you have to be invited to the combine . . . so we should know by 6/21 if Tone will be even an outside chance of staying in the process.

This is Reeves' competition . . .

Looks good...but hard to tell from a video. I have seen some guys on video that look like all world before they arrive at ISU. When they get here they look like they never played basketball.
