Is the coach’s show still on for tonight?
Burford is shooting just over 18% and Poindexter 22% this year. Both are well below their career averages. If Darias can shoot 35% and Mal 37% the remainder if the year it would have a profound impact on the offenseI got curious on the "sparking the offense with 3's" portion and wanted to see if it was possible for this team. The results below are... scary.
Career 3-point numbers:
Banks - 29.8% on 161 attempts
Foster - 0% on 10 attempts
Poindexter - 33.7% on 175 attempts
Lewis - 29.7% on 158 attempts
Burford - 33.9% on 218 attempts
Kasubke - 31.7% on 202 attempts
Davis - 29.3% on 147 attempts
Lieb - 12.5% on 8 attempts
Pence - 0% on 10 attempts
Kinziger - 46.7% on 30 attempts
Seeing that, this year's team shooting 27% from 3 is very believable.
If so, tonight might draw a record crowd, but I doubt there will be many new revelations. I’d imagine IF they even discuss what happened, Pedon’s response will be carefully measured and then they’ll proceed to discuss the game itself. Is the coach’s show still on for tonight?
I’m not sure where it would be appropriate to point out that ISU is incredibly proud of its DEI initiatives, which have led to recent minority enrollments that comprise more than 1/3 of our most recent classes, if I recall.“Norfolk State is a historically Black university (HBCU). Illinois State University is what’s known as a “predominantly white institution,” or PWI.”
More accurate statement would be:
Norfolk State is a predominately black university. Illinois State University is what’s known as a more racially diverse institution.
Geeze, no one is suggesting they publish a statement but you investigate the facts as closely to the incident as possible.ISU would be raked through the coals if they published a statement from the fans who were escorted out. They have handled this fine and are doing what they should do -- a thorough investigation.
ISU is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. If there is 0 evidence then NSU will throw out more accusations of protecting them and whatever else BS. If they find evidence the punishment and response won’t be enough. They want to be the victim. Just look at their statement. You’d think someone was physically assaulted or the entire arena was chanting it in unison.
If someone said it they should be banned for life. There is no place for it in 2023 and beyond.
How badly has this program/dept been run , if playing Norfolk fricking State in front of 3k is considered the “big stage”
We don't want to know the teams penis sizesRedbirdfan needs to start capitalizing on this. Start running an exclusive investigation complete with unnamed sources and expert witness. Become a pay site (only for new members of course) temporarily until enough is raised to pay for no ads for the next ten years. I have some juicy insight to share, only under the veil of confidentiality of course.
Doug, I believe the NS coach indicated his player told him about the alleged slur. As far as I can tell, there have been zero comments or statements from the officiating crew. I don’t believe the refs called any fouls regarding the slur, and I don’t believe the refs asked ISU athletics officials to remove any fans. Why is this a crock of shit? At this point, I'm taking the NSU coach's word for it that the ref told him what was said. I'm also completely confident that the "trust, but verify" ethos is taking place right now and our university officials are doing an internal investigation and I have no doubt they will interview the refs. This is a serious issue that will have repercussions.
I would not agree with Illinois State banning these fans without verification from the ref. If the ref verifies, the fans should be ban and this statement made in the article you shared has nothing wrong with it at all. They are taking their coach's word for it. If however, the refs that are interviewed deny hearing or more importantly, telling the NSU coach that any of our fans made these disgusting comments, then I would be upset and call this a crock of shit.
Until that happens, I'm taking their coach's word for it because to me, it seems incredibly unlikely that he would lie, knowing that the ref would deny it if the ref didn't say it. In that light, I don't have a problem with the statement from NSU. The only thing they could have changed would be to add the word "allegedly" in this statement "where racial epithets were shouted". But again, they're taking the coach for his word that the ref told him this.
I hope and trust hat Illinois State University will release a statement revealing their findings of this investigation.
