I find it possible that Sissoko could start at the 4 in 2024-25 while we develop one of our 2024 recruits.

*if he shows progress this year

Pretty sure he has only 1 year left . . . do you mean 23-24?

I trust Pedon to say, “This is the guy/the best choice with this scholarship.” He may be looking at the landscape and saying that Sissoko’s raw talent, familiarity with the system, and remaining eligibility that it is the best fit for us. I’m hoping with a full offseason focused on his development that he could make some strides.

I do hope Pedon sets the expectation that this is a 1-year thing, not a guarantee of 2 years. Perhaps neither side would want a second year at that point.

Considering some of the chatter that we might eat a ship again this season, unless we still do, this is a win

This is what I posted on the Transfer Interest thread:

I will cheer for Jordan if he suits up for Old State U, but he shot 30% from three this year, and 28% last year, and 40% (2-5) two years ago. He is not gonna be a scoring wing man for us, unless he unlocks some talent he hasn't shown before. He's a decent defense oriented 6'4 HS forward. Haven't seen much else from him. If we get him, keep your expectations under control.

I'm trying to speak in the context of what has been, not so much on "could be". You can take what I say or not, and I have said I hope I'm proved wrong if we get him. People are posting positive things about Jordan. I've watched him in person play almost all of his home games and many road games on the tube. Anything's possible. He lost his starting spot because he wasn't giving the Badgers any offense. He wasn't sharp from 3 point range. The Kohl Center was often filled with groans when he got ready to launch one. He's a 6'4 forward who doesn't shoot well. I'd compare his game roughly to what Jayden Johnson offered (well, I had more faith in Jayden's shot).

I do trust Pedon - if he's pursuing him, there must be something there, he must feel like he can unlock something in Davis. Davis is midwest, he's tough and physical, he's played in big games vs. big opponents. Fits some of Pedon's criteria. But, go back and look at Jordan's box scores from some of the big games-he was no help. Scoreless vs Kansas in a one point loss. 3 points and fouled out in a three point home loss to Wake. 8 points in win vs Marquette on 3-11 shooting. Well, you can always pick out games that are good or not, but believe me, think of the ISU games you've watched, and the "sins" of some of our players, and that is what many Badger fans see with Jordan.

Went to fish fry Friday with a couple of my basketball pals and they share my thoughts about ISU getting Jordan. We'll see. The future's all about hope and promise.

Jordan is seemingly being recruited as a backfill to Seneca Knight’s departure. Smaller in size but as noted he’s a guy with good handles and doesn’t turn the ball over - - against stronger competition. I liked Seneca but I didn’t care for the 5 to’s per game on his dribble drives. Yes, he did better with Pedon’s coaching and his efficiency picked up.
I’d like to believe Pedon/staff will infuse Confidence back into Jordan’s game if he chooses to become a Bird.
And, he/Kasubke r the insurance pieces to Pence. All good!

If he gives us Knights game without the turnovers I'd be a happy camper. Drive, penetrate and create a shot or dish.

I would like the move if Davis becomes a Redbird. If you look at Knights numbers in shooting percentage in his 4 previous years he was strictly 30% from 3 the same as Davis. Then if you look at turnovers Knight had 71 on the season in 31mpg and Davis only had 8 in 20mpg. I understand the disparity in minutes and the ball probably being in Knights hand more then Davis but Pedon is clearly attacking smart, high basketball IQ players who don't turn the ball over and plays defense.
If you now look at our depth we now have Poindexter, Burford, Kasbubke, Kinziger, Pence, Banks and potentially Davis. That would be 7 guys for 3 spots so our depth will be vastly improved over last year. Get Davis out of the shadow of his brother in Pedon offense, which I am betting Pedon sees a guy with a similar body and game as Knight and I am betting Pedon thinks he will be more improved and efficient in Pedon offense. Pedon and staff seem to be very careful in recruiting guys who fit the style and culture that envisions for Redbird basketball in the transfer portal.

I'm not sure I agree that it was all about Seneca down the stretch. I believe Pedon told him to be more selfish, cuz we needed someone to score.
Not even strictly talking about the basketball part of this. Talking about all the other aspects of being a teammate. The total package. I trust my source. You can dislike it or disagree all you want.

A one year guy on his 4th stop wasn’t 100% all team 100% of the time. I’m so shocked. Seneca was a good player and helped the team. Let’s not drag him through mud for your “sources.”

Sissoko has started 22 games in three years as a Redbird, including Muller's last year when he seemed to be in the doghouse. Seems for sure he could start again.

I've griped about his defense, but looking at the stats, he's only fouled out of one game in 3 years. Surprised me.

Guy is shooting around 55% from the floor for his career.

I like Siss. He brings an energy to the game that I believe is important.

10 different players started games last year. Nobody started every game, not even Lewis. Chances are Sissoko will start one or more games.
You still didn’t answer me. Assuming a healthy roster, who is he starting over? Lieb was brought in to be the C we didn’t have. So, again, who would Sissoko start over? Nobody cares or is talking spot starts.

Lewis was our best overall player last season. However, he also disappeared for a week or two stretch. Sissoko may not start but he has a skillset that can really help ISU.
