The former OC Kurt Beathard left ISU for family reasons (?). Does anyone know if he has returned to coaching? I really liked his approach to play calling. Although the fact that he had Tre didn't hurt either. :?: :?: :?:

Could Spack send Kolbe (and the entire offense) to the Beathard School of Football???????

nice to everyone watching the game from there homes and not at the game.....NDSU had more noise in the stands that could be heard on the broadcast...way to go season ticket holders....and you won't be at the basketball games either...with their .500 season. Forget that Blm/nrl is a city that never sleeps...

We had more fans there but they were reserved like most games. There were some Redbird fans who were rowdy but as a whole we didn't make much noise. NDSU fans cheer on EVERY DOWN. Happy the whether was the way it was because if the weather was nice they would have brought thousands of fans and it would have been an away game for ISU.

No. We really didn't have fans at this game. Period. I counted on both hands the number of butts in seats in each of sections 106-108 while game was still scoreless.

West side where we were at was dominated by Bison fans. Even our band sat our entire 3rd Quarter! There were no Redbirds around to make any noise today. Weather favored out-of-town fans visiting for the game, but Redbird Nation no-showed this one.

Hopefully that was the last of the incompetency featuring Dicken and Clark.

What the hell are those guys thinking?!?!? We needed to win one of three down the stretch. Had opportunities to win all of them and crapped the bed. 2018-2019 here we come. CLEAN HOUSE!!!! Starting with the O coordinators.

Dump all the $ into MBB.

How about instead of that shortsighted & disastrous idea, we actually do football right for once. The MVC is dying on the vine and we will never improve our conference affiliation without football.

Football is by far my preference, but it's an age-old argument and I'm not sure we have the funding to take this program to where it needs to be.

Where was this all game??

that's what I was thinking.. if ISU threw like that all game they would've loosened up NDSU defense.

wish you guys were in the playoffs other than some garbage patriot league team. good luck in off season

For those of you who missed it, the ndsu punter admitted to flopping on the play that changed the game. And in case you missed this little nugget...ndsu had 0.00 penalties the entire game. None, zilch, nada, zero, less than one. The officiating crew sucked azz. How is 0.00 penalties even possible in a college football game? We have more penalties called in our Turkey Bowl.

The first three and half quarters were all about power running and NDSU had a slight advantage. Their offensive line got a better push and then you throw in a roughing the punter and the game swung in their direction. Where was the passing game earlier? - on ice (and wind and rain and snow). It was terrible day to throw the ball - the two QB's combined for 10 for 30 passing.

Broadnax couldn't move the team either an yes Kolbe did try keeping the ball and that didn't go anywhere. So blame the OC's all you want I'm not sure what we could have called in that weather against that defense.

Give Kolbe Credit. In the 4th Q the underneath pass was open and he took it. The O-Line did a great job of pass protecting down the stretch and Kolbe was on target. If our receivers had caught the ball we would have had 2 scores instead of one but again, it wasn't a good day to catch a cold hard football.

In the end NDSU was better. Good luck to them and all Valley teams in the playoffs.

Some of you guys may be down on the offensive prospects for next season but I'm not. Hatfield might have a shot of challenging Kolbe but I'm predicting Jake will be the man again. I said before the season that he would be better but his stats would be worse due to a young and inexperienced line. That line grew up a lot this season. Helt will be missed but otherwise we're in good shape. That left side (Himmelman/Mikkelson) is getting better and better. As the offensive line continues to improve the offense will become more consistent.

By no means do I think we should have passed our way to victory. That said, our offense became way too predictable and we were getting our butts kicked in the third quarter. We should've mixed in more passes on earlier downs. You are not going to beat many teams, let alone NDSU if they know you are only going to run the ball on 1st and 2nd downs.

7664 in attendance. I would have stayed under a roof, myself (but I do have GREEN great rain gear...so that would have been a tough one for me to dress appropriately. Thanks for showing up. Yesterday had to be one of those extra crazy weather days in Central IL.

Watching the game....and the weather change...I was wondering how the local GCMS Sterling Newman Cath state semi-final game would be affected (I live a block from the football field). The crowds that I could see....were like night and day....but GCMS did not get 2 inches of snow during a quarter or so like Normal did.

I loved watching this year's Redbird team. Thanks for some great football!!

Go REDBIRDS....GO FALCONS of GCMS.

Fans often wonder why we are where we are in football (FCS level). We're there for a reason and all we have to do is look to ourselves. We're NOT all moving in the same direction. The athletic dept. is in charge of herding cats. We all want different things

I'm just not a big college football fan, that's a personal preference. I don't really think we should drop football. But TR your premise is still true.

Are we sure about this? There has been very little talk about this at all.

Hmmm, I thought someone said opening with Butler didn’t set the tone to get fans excited...,

Butler doesn't ..... game should have been played earlier in the season and would have been an easy sellout. ISU/MVFC needs to use the weather to their advantage.

Butler is a D1 Win. It serves its purpose.

ISU has no say on the conference schedule.

It’s not easy scheduling. ISU had to beg and plea just to fill out their schedule this year with all D1 schools.

Next year is worse because we have a game that doesn’t count.
