How about Izzo having to be retrained from his one player multiple times? Yikes that looks bad when a coach is doing that.
That's Izzo...hes incredibly intense, and gets into it with his players regularly. I've seen it happen at least a dozen times of the years. His guys love him though, and they are almost always good afterwards.
Can't remember which player it was, but when Illinois State was leading Louisville by about 9 points, Pitino ripped into him big time. I think the player ended up with twenty-some points. I think if Pitino had not ripped into that player and got his attention, Louisville would have lost that game (should have lost anyway: horible calls on the Jackie offensive foul on the dunk & on the Ekey flagrant foul). If Izzo would not have ripped into his player yesterday, Michigan may have lost that game.
What I can't understand is why it works for other coaches, but does not seem to work for Dan.
You have to build relationships with players for it to work. You can’t be a lunatic, have two a days most of the season, and expect players to respond.
