There wasn't a world that UIC was going to lose that game. They were going to play inspired after the crap decision from the Horizon league.Big time wins for the future members of the Valley. Belmont beat second place Morehead State. UIC also beat first place Cleveland State on the road. Murray State extended their winning streak to 13 games.

Interesting and thank you for sharing that. I wonder if UIC could have had the option to join the Valley the year after next. If that option still exists, then the ball is really in UIC's court about the future of their athletes.Different take here, sounds like UIC knew exactly what was coming for making this decision and wants to play victim
Doyel: Illinois-Chicago breaks rules, but it's the Horizon League taking the heat
Illinois-Chicago didn't follow conference rules last month or act honestly this week, but the Horizon League is taking the heat? I'm not having it.t.co
Uic not only voted for this rule, they proposed it, the point of the article is that feeling bad for the kids is a normal reaction, but don’t blame the horizon league, blame UIC. A deal is a deal, why is the horizon to blame for enforcing their league by laws? It's a crappy rule even if UIC voted for it 9 years ago. Pay a fine, agree. Even bar them from scheduling Horizon League teams or something. I get it. But, and the article even says this, don't punish the kids who didn't make the decision. For the most part, I'm sure they don't care what conference they are in. They just want to compete.
Because the option is there not to?Uic not only voted for this rule, they proposed it, the point of the article is that feeling bad for the kids is a normal reaction, but don’t blame the horizon league, blame UIC. A deal is a deal, why is the horizon to blame for enforcing their league by laws?
Mean... I am sure the Horizon thinks bailing on the league is also Mean. No problem with the Horizon enforcing the bylaws agreed to by the member institutions.Because the option is there not to?
My argument it should never have been a rule. Use financial penalties. Sue, whatever. But to tell kids who had no say in the matter that they can't compete for their ultimate goal of winning a conference title (especially in the individual sports like swimming and track) is just mean.
And again you miss the point of an argument, but that's par for the course. So you're right I'm wrong.
It is unfair to the athletes however UIC knowingly put their athletes abilty to compete in conference championships and potentially NCAA tournaments in jeapardy. UIC should not be surprised since they knew the by-laws existed, they voted in favor of the by-laws, and could have given the Horizon conference a 1 year notice. They should have given ample notice or waited like Valpo did and give notice in May.Because the option is there not to?

So the players are eligible. How ‘bout the coaches?

sidenote: kudos to the Horizon for—somewhat—taking the high road.
Yeah. The MVC definitely needs more programs like UMKC that average 629 fans per game. Maybe sit this one out.Just an update UMKC that school we all said was not good enough for the MVC is now 19-10 sounds like they are better than us
