I hope you’re right.

Any idea how many schollys we actually have available? Haha.

I believe we are currently over 1

Next season scholarship players (without any departures, assuming everyone who had one this year, has one next year) Fayne, Evans, Milik, David, Tinsley, Copeland, Hein, Williams, Romine, Clarance, Bruninga, Gassman, Incoming freshman: Idowu and Dixon. That is 14, so we are currently over one without Chastain on scholarship.

Do you know how long we will have to wait in order to figure out if any player is leaving? Wasn't sure if there was a drop dead date for those types of transfers. I saw that Bradley already had a couple players deciding to leave, etc. Hoping it doesn't drag out until summer...

He said he will be meeting with players one on one next week to do player evaluation. Guessing at that time they will discuss future plans as a Redbird.

Just going off of history, Mikyle announced his transfer around April 14 and decided on Oregon about 2 months later. DJ Clayton transferred on May 3. Reggie Lynch announced in Mid-April as well. We found out about Zeisloft, Keane, and Lofton on April 7.

So just to put it in the ball park, I would guess we know in early April, with the exception of Milik, who's name will likely still be in the draft at that point. This season is a little different than the previous three mentioned because each of those seasons we were playing in a post-extended season. It is beneficial for kids who are transferring out to say it as early as possible so their recruitment can open and they have more time to get offers. Muller will know who is transferring next week, we probably won't know definitively until a press release comes from ISU or Benson goes and asks. I'm assuming the former.

I think his lack of a commitment to giving Matt a scholly confirms what I heard about Matt and Loyola parting ways.

Would only confirm that he isn't worthy of a scholarship here in Dan's eyes. The rest is conjecture.

It was a free year for Dan to assess Chastain. Still hope he can help. And he just has to be better than some players currently on scholarship.

I don't think it says that he isn't worthy of a scholarship in Dan's eyes so much as we don't have a scholarship to give him at this point. We are already technically over by 1 (though I assume gassman's scholarship is going to one of the incoming freshman) and Chastain was already here without a scholarship.
I just meant, if Dan thought he was worthy and wanted to lock him up, he would "create" a scholarship for him.

I'm sure he is worthy of a scholarship but another possibility is for Chastain to be cool with going without one for the betterment of the team. Doug McDermott was a walk-on his senior year at Creighton so Grant Gibbs could have the scholarship. Chastain's family does pretty well for themselves. Another thought is that Chastain may have transferred to ISU knowing he may not have a scholarship for a while. Muller recruited Chastain out of HS, when Chastain left Loyola, I wouldn't be surprised if the discussion between he and Muller was something along the lines of, "We had a scholarship for you last year, you didn't want it. We want you on the team, but first priority goes with guys who committed first." (I realize Milik was recruited out of high school as well, we had more scholarships available when he transferred in.)

If there is question to his scholarship worth, the epicenter is about a foot and a half off the ground

I'm not sure if Matt would consider going somewhere else to play if we end up not giving him a scholarship. Like couldn't Bradley offer him one? Can't he transfer about anywhere he wants to now that he sat out a year? Seems like he would deserve to know in case he wants a full ride somewhere else. Of course I hope he stays here. Seems like a great kid.

I believe if he takes a scholarship at another school he will have to sit out another year under transfer rules. I think he can currently switch schools and play next year if he doesn't take a scholarship. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't know that he would. That said, one possibility could be that Matt and Muller agree he doesn't get one this year for the good of the team, and is promised one for 2019 season when we will have at least 5 (depending of course on transfers, if any, from this year) to use.

I sure hope Matt does somehow get a scholarship seemed like a great teammate very positive during games from the bench.
