A good writeup on Keith. Really motivational and shows how far this kid had to come to get to where he is at now.

Great article. Excited to see this young man in the Redbird uniform. Great upside given his late entry into the game.

Does it mean anything that he’s wearing the same 30 jersey that Rey is wearing in his commitment tweet? Or is it just the one that fits best? It looks like he wears 12 now.

Duh. It's not the same #30 jersey. Keith's has black letters with white outlines and Rey has white letters with black outlines. ;)

The business of SJSU winning just 4 games last year doesn't really excite me. And, we
got 2 guys from that experience. Hmmm.
Dan knows talent and I'm sure they both can play.

That bothers me too. I like these two players. But i don't like 4 wins. Here's to them winning 8 times as many games as last year.

They have a year to sit, watch, practice, and assimilate to a different culture. It's possible the expectations at SJSU weren't the same as what they will see here. If they get out there in 2 years and they are dogging it, well, then I would be concerned.

Hey Redbirdron! The leading scorer for SJSU just transferred to Xavier.

If we picked up a pair of guys who averaged two points per game, I might be concerned.

This is silly.

Yep. 3 players won those 4 games for SJSU. All three transfered. 1 to Xavier, 2 to ISU. We have 2 of their top 3 scorers and I believe their top rebounder.

Sometimes it just plain entertaining how some of our own fans come up with such creative ways to spin news against our team. Heck, who needs to spend time on the Bradley board or any other place. It's all right here.

As has been pointed out, 4 D1 players does not a D1 basketball team make in any conference on any level. Clearly, by starting a freshmen in all 30 games last year, SJSU had nothing in the tank from an upper classmen or leadership level. I'm not shocked they didn't win. I mean, hell. Imagine if we had last year's team without Bruninga, Williams, Tinsley or Evans. Think we would have won more than 10 games? Fat chance. And that is with one of the best coaches in the country in Muller.

If you had Chris Sale on the White Sox this year, they'd still probably only be like 12-23 right now, but that does not mean Sale wouldn't be an all-star.

Totally agree ... we have had very good, entertaining, and improving teams and have an excellent coach that we are fortunate to have ... we lost out re NCAAs to WSU, then Loyola ... each of whom had some pretty good tourney successes. It is frustrating to read some of the many negative comments here, whether it be re someone's skill levels or personal lives. I find it more frustrating than entertaining.

SJSU's leading scorer/rebounder from 16-17 transferred to Gonzaga. Their coach resigned in July last year. The staff was all replaced. They lost 4 of their top 6 players to graduation (2), transfer (1), and dismissal (1). Had one other player also transfer.

Frankly, SJSU's roster churn has been horrible for them, even before the coaching change last year. 12 players who were (or would have been) sophs, juniors, or seniors this past season left the team in the past 24 months. That's out of 14 guys recruited out of high school.

For the 17-18 season, they had 2 RS frosh and 4 true frosh, 1 juco transfer, and 1 returning starter (Welage). They had two seniors, but one of those chose to play WR for the football team last fall, so missed most of the non-con season and ended up only playing in 9 games.

They were very inexperienced.

And while Welage may have gone to Xavier, it seems like Fisher may be the biggest catch of the bunch.

I don't get on for one day.....

We gave a million threads to talk about this. Let's not do this in a recruits welcome message. If they are going to read any thread it's going to be this one. Stop it.

I was bored and was looking around the website and the roster on goredbirds.com is updated with the new players and their numbers.

Also, Fisher is listed as a sophomore on the roster, which is good news considering at San Jose State he was hurt a year, and played a year, will sit out this year, meaning next year, his first year of eligibility with us, is his fourth year of D1 ball. The NCAA may have granted that sixth year of eligibility. An extra year of who I project to be the next Phil Fayne is going to be significant!
