It's the same as it's always been: Win.

Winning generates buzz and hype. That buzz generates interest. The hype softens apathy. People attend.

Right now, and for the last couple years, there hasn't been a lot of winning. So there's no buzz on campus - which is further affected by limited presence due to Covid. Factor in some folks still just don't want to venture out and/or wear masks indoors, or pay (do students still have to pay for gameday tix? - if so, sadly it's just not justified when that money is better spent on beer or pizza), and you have the maelstrom we are currently in.

The student in that Vidette article who asked "why should we care?"...as pathetic and upsetting as that question is, it's also legit and very hard to answer right now. There have been plenty of times where such a question would never need to be asked. Students DID care. HAVE cared. And WILL care again.

Just win.
The Red Alert pass is either $50 for a single year or $100 for four years. So if you sign up as a freshman, you’re paying $25/year and that gets you into everything. Otherwise it’s $5/game.

Winning will definitely help but then it’s important the kids have a good time when they’re there. Gotta have a handful of leaders in the section to get and keep them hyped. I see they’ve been trying to do quite a few student-only promotions lately. No idea if that’s been success or not. Hopefully winning comes and the energy comes back to RBA.

There are not a ton of students on campus right now due to online classes (probably no more than 60%). I hope we can get a good turnout in the student section. Would be nice to return more towards old times. If that is the case and we can get a good turnout and students have a good game day experience, then we could potentially see slightly better numbers for future games. Unfortunately, I think there are a large number of students who don't even know Bradley is our rival or that we are playing them in basketball. A lot of players have been posting about the game to try get people to come (I'm sure coach has told recent newcomers about the typical Bradley game atmosphere). Our guys deserve some support and I hope the fans can show out for them.

This was an interesting article I found that probably was discussed a few years ago. Don't agree with all of the points he makes, but is a different style of article than usual from the Vidette.
Win and they will come. Almost 5 years ago to the day against #19 Wichita. Kicked their ass!!

Was at that game. Electric atmosphere.

I was at that game also. My son was in the student section and said it was one of his most favorite experiences at ISU as he and others rushed the court.

Basketball attendance is down all over the country. Covid, costs, losing all play a factor in what we are seeing in arenas. Winning would surely help.

If we want to stay out of Thursday night, we NEED to win this game. Period. We need to win our home games. Period.

GO YOU REDBIRDS!! It sucks to bu!

Today is a big game if we want to stay out of Thursday. Only Bradley and ISU have a win so far against the top four teams in the Valley. We need to hold service at home. It won't be easy because Bradley has been playing well lately. They lost @Loyola in OT and to MSU at home on a last second 3 by Mosley.

I am not going out on a limb but if we limit our turnovers and hold our own rebounding we have a good chance of winning.

I hope this isn't one of those games where Weirdle's squad just can't miss and we lose by 20.

DISCLAIMER: I'm reverse-jinxing this one early today.

Typically slow out of the box . . . can't defend, can't shoot. Bad combo.

We're making Badley look goodly. Down 29-15 at 7:29, BU with a FT after the timeout.
