That said......firing him is fine as long as you can find someone better. Therein lies the problem. i believe Dan is the best we can do.

Luke Yaklich has to want a head coaching job. 42-years-old

Who's proven he'll leave first better offer that comes along.

I wish we had coaches moving on every five years or so. That would peobably mean we are having consisitant success.

Maybe Lyons needs to be fired for giving out an extension!

Larry should've been given his walking papers a while ago, for a variety of reasons.

I can't support Dan anymore. He let's the egos run wild. He doesn't know how to motivate. Continued poor play until January. He's lost the locker room. His players have a higher arrest rate than normal. We need a change.

The Redbirds are bad. Like, really bad. LIke, Q4 team bad (lower than 225 in simplified terms). It's not acceptable.

Whoever said Lyons doesn't have the balls I completely agree with that.

With that said, knowing how these seasons go I wouldn't be surprised with a 6-7 non conference schedule and then a 14-4 conference schedule for a 20-11 season then 2-1 in the MVC tournament and an NIT bid at 22-12. WOuldn't surprise me. That's still not good enough after this long, however.

Yes, he should have. But, does Dietz have the balls to fire both?

Better than this.

We do have coaches leaving every five years. Just not on their own. :(

Feel pretty good about the second half. Georgia didn't let off the gas pedal and the birds won the half (so far).

I am not an expert on financials of Illinois State University. But my guess is, firing both of these gentlemen would approach 7 figures (or more) in salary that you would basically be setting on fire. Then another $600K+ to replace both per year.

where does that money come from?

This is where developing a really hard schedule has the potential to really backfire.

Does anyone now think we can beat San Diego St., Ole Miss, BYU, UCF? That could be 0-5 right there. ISU could easily be like 3-9 or 4-8 entering the conference season.

All those teams probably wish they never scheduled ISU now. Potential for a "bad loss" and even if they win there is no way it will be a Top 75 win.

I don't how so many of you can be comfortable with mediocrity.
Because without P5 TV money, it doesn't matter. We will never have the consistent level of a top tier team. Can we break the glass ceiling once in a while? Sure. Make the tournament as a bottom 8 seed, get trounced first weekend, move on. Then back to not making it.

At some point you have to accept the hand dealt to you. You can argue how ISU missed the boat, should have been FBS football, etc. But right now, in 2018 without basically tearing down and starting over we are what we are.

I think the real issue now ISU fans will face is apathy.

Never have expectations been higher and never had there been a louder thud to open a season.

Get humiliated by Belmont. Barely escaping Chicago St. And now getting destroyed by one of the worst teams in arguably the weakest P5 basketball league.

The question is.....why pay attention?

Why give Milik Yarbrough your attention? He doesn't care about you. He cares about his 20, 8 and 5.

Why give your attention to the "seniors"? They can't guard anybody.

Why give your attention to the coaching staff? They just lose and their lack of "readiness" is appalling.

Go spend time with your kids. Go study for that exam. Go make some stuffing. Any of that is time better spent than investing in this nonsense. It's a waste of time right now.

Not to mention that when TV contracts are renegotiated in a couple years, it's likely D1 basketball goes the route of D1 football. Power conferences gonna power.

That is so defeatist, poor us. No you can't be final four threats consistently, but what about a team like Belmont? Are they in a P5? 4 NCAA and 3 NIT in 9 years? We can't match an OVC team?

Dan isn't going to get fired. There is zero money to do it and Larry/Dietz don't make him suspend his players when they get arrested at record pace so they won't fire him.

However, there are a lot of things concerning about Muller. I will be the first to admit, I am a big Muller fan, but losing patience. There appears to be no discipline off the court and the team plays the same way on the court. Since he's been here they don't really have an offense. It's mostly shoot threes and hope they go down. Defensively, he's had one good/elite team with P. Lee and Wills.

Plus, the non-sense of two a day practices and running them into the ground appears to just wear them out and not make them any better. It looks like a team that has no fun or energy.

I agree. Dan lost this team. There is a disconnect. They don't fight for him..they don't play hard...they look like poor defending robots.

And this new coach Chris?? Isnt he a guard coach?? He's doing a horrible job! Our guards get best on defense everytime! And according to my family who have attended some games he's rude!
