I want a highly qualified recruiter and developmental coach. Not a former ISU player just because he went here.

if you are going chicagoland high school coach route go big time with Javon Mamon. Btw I am a fan of Boyce but no comparison of the two.

spot on. Some of the recent Redbird player suggestions I hope were said only in humor and not seriousness

We have two openings on the staff. Reese represents a player that played at a high profile program and both him and Dan played in NCAA tournaments. I want a charismatic person than can recruit and relate to players - preferably with NCAA experience as a player but probably more importantly as an assistant coach. I think this would compliment Dan's strengths. I think the second person could be an up and coming coach and why not someone loyal to ISU - either promote within or a former Redbird. Someone who is genuinely passionate for ISU will go a long way in selling it to potential players. A well rounded staff is what we need.

Dan had guys before Yak and Haynes left if he is about to announce guys already. He knew Yak and Haynes can move in - may as well help them if you know who will be next up. This will play out better than we think.

This is the type of thing that makes top notch assistants WANT to come to ISU and work for Dan.

A million yeses! :text-+1:

Dan does treat his coaches well. When Dan moves on to better things, maybe YAK will come back as our next coach.

Illinois State's Dan Muller will hire East Tennessee State's Brian Collins as an assistant coach, per a source.

One down. I would guess the last one will also be an assistant/AHC from a smaller conference school.

For anyone thinking Muller is doing things the wrong way, you're out of your freakin mind and have no clue.

Kudos to coach for this. You build programs through relationships, and Muller is first class in that department.

Dan is not fighting the people mobility trend. He is helping drive it forward in a positive way. That's leadership. This also reflects VERY well on the ISU brand. Really good things happening in Normal right now.

Couple interesting ISU connections....went up for the Tennessee St. HC spot that ISU's Dana Ford got, and he was assistant under former ISU and Shocker AC (now ETSU HC) Steve Forbes. Looks like he's had a successful career so far, and he's now ready to help Dan take ISU to the next step...cool

Alright go get 'em Dan and GO YOU REDBIRDS!

Played under Rick Byrd at Belmont, who's a heckuva coach. 4-yr starter at PG, so there's the guy who'll be pushing Elijah, Keyshawn, and Milik on ball skills.

Seems like a great hire by Dan.

My guess is there may have been a Nashville connection here. Maybe Dan knew of him when he was at Belmont and Dan at Vandy.
