Yes, it is considered an athletic priority. Unless things have changed in the last few months, it's not close to being a reality. A couple donors making transformational (7-figure) gifts are what's needed unless we can find 50 or more donors willing to give 6-figures each. Until that happens, it's a plan that looks good on paper and sounds fun to talk about but it's far from reality.
So it sounds like we need at least $5 Million to get the ball rolling on the IPF...if we were able to get that money, how are we coming up with the rest of the $15-20 Million?

Reggie, I believe you have said we could not use Bonds because the IPF has no revenue generating function. Would we leverage the Learfield contract that we have in place and be taking out a Loan for the difference?

Late to this thread, but lots of players from the better UM (Michigan) also looking to transfer. Any chance we could land one or more?

1.) If we want to leverage the Learfield contract to help pay bonds, there are a few potential issues I could think of. The first is that the bonds would likely be 20-25 years and the revenue stream is only 10. Perhaps the bond market would assume we have future revenue beyond the 10 years, but who knows. The second is that we would not be able to use that money for other things: Dan's new contract, paying other coaches more, etc. I also don't think the annual increase in funding would be enough to pay the bonds.

I have a feeling that by the time the Hancock bonds are paid off, or even before, that RBA may need some renovations. We also have to consider that coming down the pipe.

2.) It depends on how big of a facility we want to build. Are we looking for something functional or that will be a crown jewel? I don't know if you know Gametime gym in town, but you could probably build something like that on campus. Bring in some heaters, etc. It would be very rudimentary, but better dedicated space than Horton is right now. Compare that with what YSU built or what they have at Illinois, Northwestern or Mizzou in terms of indoor facilities:

Mizzou's is in here: https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/2013/college-football-indoor-practice-facilities/

I've been posting info on Gopher transfers only because I read the Minneapolis paper every day so am up on them, not because I think they'd necessarily help us. Some might. Just fun to toss out names.

But I'd be glad to see some refugees from Harbaugh-ville show up here!! Our Pierre Rembert from a few years ago was a Wolverine if I remember correctly!

Another Gopher on the loose today, LB Jaylen Waters, 7 tackles in 10 games. Two years left if he goes FCS, from Texas:

I would not mind seeing a couple of transfers - either linemen or WRs would be the priority, I would think.

Wow, looks like I may be wrong on that one. Seems like an odd candidate to move down. Hopefully we have a chance with him as well though.

maybe as a 5th year, very programs are interested in finding a schollie for an Illinois LB.

hope we are still in the hunt with our BJ Bello connection. ISU Ranks higher than NDSU in pl

Tre Watson .. ISU is a very defensive minded football program. Spack was a LBer. Our returning defense is a little thinner than NDSU, so you would step right in and get a lot of attention. And the NFL is very aware of ISU as one of the top FCS programs for NFL talent.

Worked out pretty well for BJ Bello.

Guys, like I said the first time: His brother plays for NDSU. My guess is if he doesn't go to an FBS in FLA, he's going to NDSU to play his final collegiate season with his brother. It makes everything much easier on his mother.

Looks like former IL WR Sam Mays is available.

I wonder if we have interest and if Megginson coming here helps.

There is an item on Facebook talking about Megginson - as the highest rated recruit in Lovie's first class as Head Coach. Go get for the Birds.

I haven't seen that, but Megginson was not a Lovie recruit.

Correct. He would have been the highest rated recruit in Cubit's last class as Head Coach. Still a good get for the Birds though.

Gopher QB Demry Croft from Rockford picks Tennessee State in the OVC for his next stop. Eligible in the fall.

Demry Croft and DeMarco Corbin. It will be interesting to see if TSU can harness that potential.
