The official site lists him as a junior. Which he is. A redshirt Junior.

In terms of academics he's a senior. In terms of athletic eligibility he's a junior.

Is that the same "Official Site" that listed Mikyle McIntosh as a Junior the year he left?

Where is it written that someone needs to be listed as a senior to leave?

No one when talking about college athletes describe where they are academically. Hein is a junior. A redshirt junior. The official athletics site says as much. He has one year of eligibility left. That would be his senior year.

If he starts vs Drake or Mo State the PA guy will announce him as a junior. Just as The jbc guys will as well.

The last two weeks have been a whirlwind for Hein. Now, Illinois State's redshirt junior guard would like to top it off with a victory before going to sleep in his own bed.

Why is this so hard?? The kid is academically a grad student and athletically a red-shirt junior.

I think it will come down to whether Matt wants to play next season. If he decides (for whatever reason) "no" he would be recognized (as he already has his bachelors). He may/not have given it any thought.

Matt will be a record next season. No reason why he wouldn't be. Dan isn't going to kick him off.
