seriously .. up 24 and we put James Robinson in to return a punt .... seriously guys ???

So not only does he fumble it away but he limped off field. Add a pemalty and they are sitting on our 9 yard line.

Robinson had first carry of 2nd half ... appears to be fine.

p.s. confidential to coaches ... he is not our punt returner .. bad idea !!!

Yeah. That was a big WTF moment. Glad that Robinson is alright.

liking our WRs so far .. little out of sync with QB so far, but Schnell and Haley are looing good. Haley has 4 catches after dropping his first target. Plus Petkovic looked good on TD catch with ball thrown behind him. FR Edgar has 2 catches .. we"ll see how he does against D-I competition.

Davis had guy wide open in back of end zone right behind the guy he mis-threw to underneath. He looks good at times, but not very accurate so far. Needs more time to get in sync for sure.

Time to go home - or turn it off - on TV they just ran a spot promoting EIU tickets
“After scoring a week 1 victory”
Granted it was a foregone conclusion- but not the greatest look with 8min left in the 3rd quarter.

2 things I learned tonight

- offense is not quite ready
- defense knows how to stay home on trick plays'

Nothing else learned from this game .. period.

Lack of rhythm on offense against an inferior opponent is a little frightening.

Glad to see some wideouts put themselves into a position to make plays.

O-Line made some holes, as they should.

Defensive backs, long a thorn in the side of this team, seem to be doing pretty well for the first game.

Those are my takeaways of watching most of the first half and the first 8 minutes of the second half.

Useless game. Hopefully no serious injuries.

Also......I really hope we don’t see musical QB’s. If there was a competition and Davis won it then he should be playing. Period.

The season starts next week and whomever starts at QB needs to play the entire game unless injured.

Musical QB’s is as useless as taking a bath with your socks on.

Spack said they have a good kicker, which means Spack has no respect for a team that Spack scheduled in week 1. That’s all I got out of this.

Ive never seen a fan base so angry about a 46-0 win in my life.

Guys, it is cleanly obvious that Spack scheduled this game just to get every player on the roster live reps. Every player we have saw the field. Yes, rhythm was off in the passing game because A) I dont think that was our full playbook on display and B) Coach was throwing different combinations out there to see what worked from Q2 on.

It was the equivalent of an NFL week 2 presason game.

The D gave up 0 points after a muffed punt put the birds on d first and goal from the 9. That's all I need to now.

Also, we might have one of the best overall RB cores in FCS football.

46-0 with no major starting lineup injuries. Who can argue with that being a good thing?

I hope they don't schedule any more games like this. It was probably a good thing to get some game reps with a whole new coaching staff and a bunch of new starters but this was the most boring game I have watched in a long time. EIU played Arkansas yesterday and while they got beat bad, they played some big boys and not a team way down the chain of divisions. Who is going to benefit more next week from the game 1 opponent? I don't know but this game did not do much for the Redbirds at all. Defense looked strong but again this was not a strong offense they were facing. Offense? They need work.
I watched the App State v Penn State game yesterday. A really exciting game and a great effort by App State. A few years ago ISU beat App State in OT in Boone, NC. A few years later App State is playing in front of 100,000+ fans against Penn State and taking them to OT before finally losing. The same day, ISU is playing an NAIA team in a sleep fest at Hancock. Talk about two programs that went in totally different directions!

this !

And in the eyes of the FCS playoff selection committee, the game didn't even happen ... and now we only have 10 games to prove we deserve playoff bid.

Playoff discussion usually starts at 7 wins, though I happen to believe a 6-4 record against MVFC schedule + FBS should qualify ... but I don't want to be a bubble team putting our fate in hands of selection committee.

Sure, it was a good tuneup for regular season against an opponent we had to game plan for ... but techically our season starts against EIU.

I can easily tell you Coach Spack had NOTHING to do with scheduling this game. In fact he was NOT happy about this game at all.

This game is 100 percent on the AD - make not mistake about it.

Why hasn’t any local media (pantagraph, vidette) asked either Spack or Larry Lyons about this? Or are they just sticking with “we couldn’t find a D-1 opponent to play”?

And it's an absolute epic fail on their parts.

They literally had 2-3 years to fill 2 games. Think about that.

Beyond brutal when you think about everything involved.

Is Spacks daughter involved in scheduling?

Stat that jumped out at me - Malachi Broadnax was the leading tackler! Nice debut. Would seem like he embraced the challenge.

Altho no receptions, it seemed like TE Tanner Taula played a fair amount, was listed as a starter (not sure if he actually did start).

I'm sorry this game was scheduled, but I'm not gonna spend any time griping about. It's done and over. At the end of November, if necessary, I'll gripe.
