With how good Loyola has been we should try and poach Drew Valentine to be our next coach. Worked under Izzo and Porter, probably has some good recruiting connections. Just a thought

Watching Loyola and Illinois today just made me depressed. We aren’t even on the same planet as either. Loyola slept walk to back to back 30 point wins. Illinois probably does the same since ISU couldn’t even play man to man against bad competition.

Fun game to watch. Rambles did nothing outside of what they normally do when they are on. Porter out coached his opponent.
Yeah, I've come to like Underwood, which I didn't at first, but the lllini sure looked like they hadn't really prepared for what they were going to see. Figgered they could just roll it out there and overwhelm them.

The reset button can do a number for some coaches. It worked for Moser with that time under Majerus. They could give Muller a month to prepare for Illinois and they wouldn’t have come out with the game plan that Moser did.

That was my take away too. Their big guy was solid today, but Krut more than stood his ground

I agree, this looked like a classic case of overlooking an opponent.

Pace of play and 17 turnovers did the Illini in.
It is not like Loyola was walking the ball up the court and dribbling the ball in the same spot. Loyola actually ran an offense with a plan A, plan B and plan C. which sometimes resulted in 4 or 5 passes. Illinois has certainly played schools with more talent than Loyola, but not sure they have played any team that structured, focused and disciplined.

Even former coaches Gillen and Greenberg said Moser outcoached Underwood and that he builds his program from the ground up " (ot through crap shoot transfers who bring zero consistency to a program).

His biggest recruiting tool right now is that the players know they will win. The fact that he has a good idea they will stay for 4 years allows him keep this roll for a while. Underwood's biggest recruiting tool is that he can make kids a lot of money in the NBA. If he coached like Porter in a power 5 conference, I don't think he would get the talent he is getting.

Just a couple of years before their Final Four ruin three seasons ago, wasn't Loyola a regular in the Thursday night play-in rounds at the Kiel/Savvis/Scottrade Center? If so, with the possible exception of Larry Bird, there may be no one player who raised the trajectory of a Valley program like Cameron Krutwig did at Loyola..........Townes, Custer and Richardson were already there when Krutwig arrived.

Not sure I agree with that. Krutwig might have been that final piece in the final four season, but Townes was in his first year in the program and Custer was in his second. Custer was also the MVC player of the year during the final four run.

I have strong doubts that "blo-no would be going crazy" if we made the S16. Would you hear increased chatter and such? Sure. But I don't think to open the next season we have people camping out to get in. It just isn't what this town is.

I think there would be strong buzz around Central Illinois if ISU made a tournament run in basketball. I even think Bradley (deep down) and Illinois fans would be on ISU'S bandwagon as many people have pointed out there is a lot of multiple fans of multiple fan bases. With that said, what is sad about Loyola is that quite frankly nobody cares outside of about 2,000 people that Loyola is even winning. I have several businesses/restaurants in the Chicago suburbs and at the time of the final 4 years ago many people didn't even know Loyola had a basketball team when their running was going on. A few hop on the Nun's comedian bandwagon but more of a mockery "funny that's cute" moment than passion for the fan base and great brand of basketball they have been playing. I really hope this time around its different but I got a hunch that it isn't. Small non P5 private schools just don't get the attention and buzz they deserve. A large public school such as ISU that has a sea of red throughout the state and midwest would get a LOT of buzz and attention!!!

And to follow up... I think the community and fan base would show up more over the next few years. Does everyone remember when a crappy St John'scame to redbird arena? Or even good Dayton/BYU teams? It would be like that every game. This area lives for 3 things... actually 4. State Farm, Restaurants, ISU and the St. Louis Cardinals.

We aren't going anywhere until we remove Muller. Winning cures all and that is something that won't happen here until he is gone. The community will not support a team battling it out to stay out of Thursday night for the fourth year in a row. Not going to happen.
