Just a couple of random thoughts. I have only had time to read the last couple of pages.

Josh Jefferson might be really good for us.

Like HCDM said in post game, too many 3's too quick.

Yeah, the Reggie anthem was a bit out there. But again, we are trying stuff when some say we don't. Same for the MC guy. I agree he was hard to understand at times.

Kudos to the new LED lighting. i understand it is still a bit of a work in progress, but it looks cool.

Lots of folks like the TV timeout promos. Especially the kids. That stuff doesn't, and can't really happen for volleyball because the breaks are too short. I hink nearly 3 minutes of just music would be pretty boring. But again, we do try stuff.

I see a major sponsor was sold for the court. Somebody said we could not get stuff like that done because we are FCS.

Welcome back Steve Adams :)

Also surprised Rey only got 4 minutes.

Rey was getting handled on the boards and on D. His lack of experience was evident and FGCU was taking advantage.

He somewhat reminded me of a young Dinma. In time, Rey could become an absolute monster.

And, yes, Josh Jefferson appears to be the read deal as far as 3-pt shooting. Nice form, nice release, and really quick. I also like that he doesn't force the shot when he doesn't catch it in rhythm.

Agree on both counts. That 10-ft jumper airball from just off the block was very reminiscent of Dinma.

Did anyone else think the electric guitar version of the National Anthem was in extremely poor taste and a disgrace to not only ISU but especially to the National Anthem itself? Everyone in our section was embarrassed. Personally, I thought a very bad reflection on ISU. I'd love to know who gave the OK for that to be played. Additionally, the young man who was emcee during time-outs....cannot understand a word he said...talks way too fast.

Great to hear Steve Adams back on the P.A. Hope he continues to do our games as his health permits.

:text-+1: People in our section did not care for the anthem either & not a big fan of the pre- intro team video/music. We could not understand most of what the PA guy was saying during timeouts either. But...the halftime entertainment was impressive & having Steve Adams back at the PA was wonderful & the drum corp was very entertaining.

There's a difference to having a talented artist playing it with guitar a la Jimi Hendrix. I love that version. Having a mascot air guitar his way through it... No thanks.

I thought it was silly, especially on election day.

This from a man who once played air guitar in a lip sync band contest at ISU (only placed second though).

BTW .... I agree with you ... and I think Reggie did too. He stood there awkwardly airing to Jimmy. You were much better!!

Lol! Wow, that's going back a few years. I didn't air guitar to the Star Spangled Banner though, it was to the Romantics! As I recall, you played a really mean set of Air Drums (constructed from milk crates).

I thought it was very poor taste. Love Reggie, but that was not good.

Guys.... Reggie was actually playing....

It takes a lot of talent to play the guitar without the use of your fingers.

The discussion about Reggie playing the anthem is making me laugh :)

So let's slam our mascot because he /she did not play the national anthem like Jimi Hendrix.

It was a bit rough. Frankly, many of our fans would not appreciate Hendrix' rendition, either. We took a chance, certainly. But it was not that bad. One minute, I am reading that our admins have no ideas and creativity. The next, they are panned for clearly going out of the box. Because a mascot with no fingers could not emulate Jimi Hendrix. So it goes.

Thoughts

- I didn't really care for the new alternate uniforms. Idk why we just don't go with black instead.
- I enjoyed the athletic department with new ideas even though everything seemed off.
- Gassman and Hein will have a roll on this team. I get ppl don't understand but imo you need guys like on your team. They know their roll.
- Loved the new lights
-It was great having Steve Adams back. I always love his voice saying "today's coaching rivals, are."

I didn't think it was either.

I think he was actually playing. You could hear a few awkward/missed notes due to the gloves, but overall I thought it was fine and a good fit for Hardly Normal night.

And, gosh, there were times he was moving his pick so fast it looked he was missing notes . . . and at times he was moving his hands in ways that it made it looked like he was playing no notes at all.

Good first win but a lot of improvement needed. Everyone else has pointed out the main good/bad points of the game. The one thing that I was puzzled about was why Gassman was in there toward the end of the game when you have better ball handlers on the bench such as Copeland. Copeland would have been an extra ball handler especially when the game was closer in the final 2-3 minutes. Perhaps coach felt that Gassman has more game experience and is a better defender and rebounder than Copeland. Copeland is quicker and handles the ball better and that skill was needed on several plays where the ball was not handled very well. I like Hein and think he contributes but when he dribbles the ball into traffic I always sense the potential for a turnover escalates especially toward the end of the game when FGCU pressured him more.

Reggie was 100% playing. I know that for a face.

Steve Adams is the GOAT of PA's. He gives fans nostalgia. I've been listening to him give updates for a long, long time. I'm glad he is doing well enough to call some games! Nothing against the guy who has been doing football that has been filling in, but he is no Steve Adams. "This is REDBIRD BASketBALL!" "Today's Coaching Rivals ARE..."

No one in the biz is better.
