Victor Williams, Sean Riley, Champ Oguichi. All 1 year guys I believe. I remember Victor and Sean being really nice and went out of their way to interact with all the fans when I was a kid.

Emmanuel Holloway was also a great player for us during the Jank era.

Will Ransom just for the brick wall screen on Rob Baker is a noteworthy mention.

Great memories!

I believe I read most of the posts and several of my favorite obscure Redbirds have been used, so I kept thinking.

Back when ISU had Wilkins, Lewis, Jones, Yarbrough and Mayes as the starters the glue was a player named Rick Ferina. Rick was not as flashy as those guys, but he could make 1 and 1 free throws in the clutch. He was almost always in the game at the end.

I love this question!! Nice topic, man!

When I read "obscure," I was thinking some long forgotten not very productive maybe even bench warmer type of player. I like that because it really makes you tap the reserves regarding Redbird history.

Always liked Steve Fitch from the early 90's. Juco transfer (played with Reggie Wilson at Lincoln College). Very athletic, long player with quite impressive hops and good range on his jumper. Don't think Bender, once he got him, really liked him (as a player) very much - so by the last half of his senior year he wasn't playing much. He was one of those guys I thought had a chance to be really good.

Sigh. Like so many other players.

Also...we forget about him as a player...but what about TheMichiganMan Steve Fisher?!

One of my favorite, obscure, that never panned out, was Kenyon Smith. Man, I thought he was gonna be a stud.

I dunno that a lot of the submissions would be described as "obscure" my most fans.

Damn this is hard to name just a few, but here's my best shot:

Shedrick Ford
Kenny Wright

2 of my favorite Redbirds. Kenny Wright played what, the last 2 or 3 games in a knee brace with a torn ACL.
