That being said the last thing we need is more roster churn/less consistency. If we keep having 5+ new guys every year, this is the season we are going to keep getting in my opinion.

Spot on. We seem to have good young guards, Idowu will continue to develop, Fisher is tough and maybe Bruniga finally gets healthy...maybe?

If I read the stats right we only had 6 turnovers last night while Drake had only 3. That was a half-court possession by possession game. I know that is the kind of style Dan is comfortable with, but I think we fare better in games where we create more pressure. In our Northern Iowa game we had 9 turnovers, but created 11. Maybe not Dan so much, but I think our current roster would be more suited for a havoc style.

Honestly, I don't think that's the style Dan is comfortable with. We just don't seem to have the guys we need to create more pressure and still play with control. Given our turnover problems possession by possession seems the fall back in order to play more deliberately. As soon as we speed up, we end up with more giveaways than takeaways . . .

I agree Dan is not comfortable with a style that gives up control. Placing more full court or 3/4 pressure is usually an advantage to the quicker team.. That is the strength of this roster. We have guys that can anticipate passes well and like to run....plus we have depth at the guard position for that. As far as our bigs, Ndaye is a talent in this style of game, where he doesn't even play anymore in a game like last night. You say we end with more giveaways than takeaways if we speed it up, but stats say differently. We have forced (or unforced) more turnovers this year than any of the last 8 seasons. We are good at it. Despite our turnovers being the highest in Dan's tenure, our opponents have more this year. That is a plus.

The problem I see with our halfcourt game is that we are over-matched defensively. Last night, while we were 12 for 33 inside the arc, Drake was 25 of 37. That is a difference of 26 points. If we are going to improve this year, it is going to start with our defense. I'm not sure we have the size to do it in strictly a halfcourt game.

Is this a new record low for lack of interest in the ISU men's basketball program? Only 3 pages for a game thread?

Certainly the poor basketball season has led to a lot less interest. I also think a lot of posters have been driven away by the manner of posting by some. Let's face it, nobody wants to read a message board when every thread is hijacked can drag down the same rabbit hole.

And some also don’t enjoy living in Kool aid fantasy land either.

Let’s face it, the redbird basketball program is hitting rock bottom right in front of us.

I’ve watched and supported the program since the early seventies. But right now we are not competitive. Recruiting misses, player transfers and turnover, inconsistency, questionable inside contribution, poor substitution decisions, etc. all make for a non-competitive end product. We look like the Geno Ford coached Bradley teams and that’s an embarrassment. Serious fans have to ask.....how did this happen in a scant three years from a memorable season? The program is trending downward, and fans have every right to be frustrated.

This 100%. Every thread is more of the same. If there was a thread about Burger King it would devolve into firing Muller before the end of page 1.

Copeland just had one of the best games I have seen in a long time. Hopefully he remains locked in and we can start to put something together.
