I'm just happy I had a holiday party to host yesterday instead of flying down to SA. As much as I love the river walk down there it's best I didn't go or else I would've jumped in it last night. I'm saddened on all fronts and don't know where to start. I guess it starts and ends with Danielle Muller

Contract expires 2024

Thanks for the clarification. I heard there was a $600,000 buyout on this contract. Don’t know if this is true. But, take a buy game with a Duke and bite the bullet ...if true. I guess the big question who is after Muller?

No need to harp on the negative because everyone can see what the problems are. Between lackadaisical defense and poor ball control coupled with a kid who is having the game of his career, we’ll have a large mountain to climb in the second half.

The good news is... Abdou played a really good first half. When he got a steal and took the ball the length of the court for an easy lay in- I really liked that. He’s got a good block and shooting well from the foul line.

A coaching change is not being made this season. If they did, the keys would be handed to Jones, who many of you will point to his North Dakota win-loss record and scoff. So, I say give it up. But you do you.

I think we can safely say that Muller’s recruiting strategy of leveraging the American Southeast combined with local kids from central Illinois has been a pretty big flop.

We are so slow and everyone knows it. Other teams guards smell blood before tip. And that’s not going to change next year either.

But the biggest problem for Muller continues to be that there is absolutely zero identity with the program. The culture is terrible. There is zero tenacity or competitiveness with these players. 1on1 play has been allowed for years and it is a cancer. Defensively we don’t guard anyone. We foul. We jack tons of terrible low percentage shots year after year and we really don’t have good shooters doing it. And that’s why you get the talent you get. Because you can’t sell this shit. It is what it is. Nothing for any good player to get excited about.

I mean, how do you look your fans with a straight face and tell them that you think bringing in guys like Torres and Hillsman as senior transfers was something for us to get excited about. They are not good basketball players. They are slow, unathletic, low-major bench players who start for ISU.

If I did all this I would get fired so fast from my job. But the most important reason is the culture part. He has killed it. No one cares anymore. I barely even pay attention. Why would I?

I’m surprised that anyone thought this team was going to be anything other than awful this year. Earlier, I said they’d give the 5-23 team a run for their money and was laughed at.
I’m simply looking for something to give me hope for next season. So far, there are a few glimpses, but I didn’t expect us to be getting beat this badly by garbage teams. I mean, a bad Valley team should still be able to beat the likes of UTSA, No. Kentucky, and UIC...that’s what is so frustrating and has me thinking that next year will be equally frustrating.

After reviewing what I saw yesterday I am searching for some positive aspect of the Redbird performance. The only encouraging thing I observed in the UTSA game was Free Throw percentage. OK, it wasn't outstanding but 68.2% is very good for this group. There wasn't even one other positive stat or outcome from this game. HORRIBLE!

Well, the problem is that many posters on here had this misconception that every player Dan brings to campus is the next great thing ..

KF was going to be this tenacious leader because he liked yelling from the bench.

Torres was going to be awesome because he came from Wichita (notice Wichita having a great year in the post torres era)

Boyd scored like 13ppg as a frosh in a weak league but shot a horrible percentage that no one cared about.

Ndyiae and sissoko don’t have college b-ball bodies or skills yet because of their HS coaches and completion they got hyped up as well.

The list goes on...

All in all - many negative posters got crushed for pointing out these realities. It’s nice to see the love affair with Dan coming to an end, it’s been over for me for many years.

WTF

Dan probably forgot he’s on the roster. Not sure playing the Leroy phenom would make much of a difference. Not much offense and his flopping on defense isn’t working as much this year.

However, I’d play him over the juco ballers he rolls out there

Great assessment. I still watch, listen, and hope, but there is no reason to believe anything positive will happen. Been let down too many times by everyone involved to think it gets fixed by the people in charge.

I don’t know who’s next. Perk Weisenpenis got lucky with Pingeton. Maybe Lyons could get lucky with a MBB hire?

Regardless, HCDM is stealing money and he needs to go.

Thanks Muller

But if you shriek hysterically 10 times in every thread, more good posters will leave.

So they've got that going for them.

As soon as I heard Muller arrogantly chose not to stay at a Holiday Inn Express on the trip, I chose not to watch or listen to the game.

He hurt his ankle at the beginning of the second half of the UIC game. They wrapped it up pretty tight and played very little (if at all) after that. I think it was a game day decision whether he was going to play in the UTSA game

Just another example of the ongoing Groundhog Day of the Muller “era”, a new couple guys in and out of the doghouse each week. The one consistency with his substitution pattern is there is none. Same crap different year.

As another poster said he hurt his ankle at the game. Don’t believe he played the second half. So I rather doubt Chastain is in the doghouse. Would give Muller benefit of the doubt on this one.

Play a guy with a bad ankle who we know has a bad knee. Why be conservative and think of his future
