Need this win otherwise fan interest and non-season ticket holder revenue is toast

If anyone is actually paying attention to this trainwreck of a program, "winning" that game will not add any fan interest.

Who cares? UIC sucks
He can pop his jersey and run his mouth when he does it against UNI on a Sunday in March.

My guess is the season ends on Thursday night to Valpo.

He did a great job yelling after a basket, then getting beat on D the very following possession. My favorite Fisher moment was when a guard drove to the lane and he was standing there... with his back to the ball handler and he laid it in for an uncontested layup. He is so fundamentally flawed. Dare I saw MILIK 2.0

Milik was actually a good basketball player.

How dare you say that here? He was the scape goat for how poorly the team played last year by most ISU fans.

For what it's worth he was covering his guy who was moving up to set a screen and the guard got beat. It wasn't like he was just standing there not watching the play. The guy guarding the open lay up didn't yell help so Keith couldn't react. Even if he does the guy likely dumps it to Keith's man who goes in for an uncontested lay up.

You can say what you want about his play to start the year, but he's been playing better of late. You and Rico wanted Keith to play better, he's doing that, so maybe easy on the pure hate.

Couple of other thoughts:

--Other than Keith and occasionally Chas and Rey, we need to box out. I'm going to harp on this every game until we do it right. This is a coaching thing, coaches need to get on them in practice and do rebounding drills.

--We also need to quit having unforced turnovers. We try to force things far to often with passes and such that we get way ahead of ourselves.

-- We played harder on the defensive end, but we didn't play well. Half the time we were leaving guys completely wide open or getting beat off the dribble. He need to move our feet and stop trying to go for every steal and block. Let's just work on keeping guys in front of us.

--DJ was forcing everything, and I think felt the pressure in this game. He'll get better he just needs to let the game come to him.

--Good games for Rey and Keith, which was nice to see. It would be fantastic to get them on a good role.

--Tone looked calm the entire game. As he grows it will be nice to have a guard that doesn't get flustered. I also like that he went to the bucket to end the game as he knew the long balls weren't falling.

--I'll take the win. I don't like how close it was, but I'll take it and move on to the next one.

Reeves played 13 minutes tonight. He should be playing double that.

I also don’t want Torres playing more minutes than Horne.

Get those kids as much tick as possible.

Agree. Torres can be the backup and spell these guys for a couple of minutes. It is very clear why Marshall did not want him. If he doesn't like it, leave. Just turn the Freshmen loose before they wise up and jump ship.

Say what now? What screen was his man setting again? And I quote: "It wasnt like he was just standing there not watching the play"... Fake news - he had no idea where the ball was.... Enjoy the clip.

I like the clip, I especially like the part where it shows hom moving with his man and reacting when someone finally told him cope got beat. But I guess if you see him guarding a guy as standing there not doing anything watching the play, that's fine.

So in basketball a defender should solely focus on his man and his man only until someone yells at him to get his attention. Dan should hire you as his defensive coordinator!!

No, but guys also need to talk. If Cope tells help when his guy beats him Keith has a chance to turn, and likely get a foul.

Would I have like Keith to see it and get in front of it, absolutely. But this isnt solely on Keith is my point. And it certainly doesn't make him this terrible player you want him to be.

I guess Keith should have known that Zach was going to be so far out of position defensively. Then he would not have needed to guard his man, so he could have provided help D more quickly. Of course then it would still be his fault. Keith and DJ have played the most consistent defense this year. Not sure why DJ was fading away from the basket on most of his shots tonight though. Tone is a high IQ player on offense.

He should have awareness to know where the ball is at without Copeland yelling at him and provide help side defense. If players have to yell when they get beat in order for help defenders to react, they will never stop anyone.

I simply commented it was a horrible defensive play. I stand by that statement. You came up with reasoning to support what happened on the play. I disagreed and provided visual evidence in support of my viewpoint. Simple as that. Do I think he’s a terrible player? TBD. He certainly hasn’t lived up to the kool aid hype. He did play well tonight against a very below average team.

Yes you need you do need to see where the ball is, but guys need to communicate when they get beat. So other guys can help. I agree not a good defensive play, but it's not all on keith is all I'm saying.

I enjoyed the last for minutes...my three year old had a blast. He was still Jaycee Hillsman when we played in the living room when we got home, despite Hilly's performance. I was assigned to be Turd Ferguson from the Flames.

Jeez what a bunch of complaining. Fisher had a nice game 15/14 but he’s “fundamentally flawed” for one defensive lapse. My first game in person this year as I am up here for the grandkids. What I saw was a team that’s not physically strong other than Rey. So they are basically a finesse team that must shoot the ball well to compete. I thought they played hard actually. Plus they didn’t quit.
They shot about 46% despite only 1/15 from three. That tells me they ran their basic offense pretty well. Rey and Keith had good games. Reeves was good off the bench second half. Made a bunch of clutch Free throws when they counted. Both freshmen guards are going to be nice players. Zach stepped up and buried a clutch three and we got a win. Personally I am happy we won though some in this thread seem to wish we lost.
