Yes---the contracts are slotted by the round you are drafted. So Shag received something similar to Davontae (a little less as his was 3 years ago). Which reminds me that Shag will be a UFA after 2018. Hopefully he gets more passes thrown his way and can get a nice payday next spring.

p.s. we may want to reassess pass cover strategy and techniques ... Davontae took too much heat on this board at times .. sometimes you have to let them play the man AND the ball ... opposing QBs know this about us, the good ones take full advantage .. this may be why we occasionally get lit up ... just saying .

I think he would of went higher coming out of his Junior year...but I'm glad he cashed in nicely. Not sure what happened to our pass defense last year. Some days we couldn't stop anything, like at SIU or NAU.

Anybody know how much, if any, is guaranteed? Hopefully that's not an issue, but he does have to make the team since NFL players don't start to be paid until game 1 of the actual season, unless that's changed recently.

to the best of my knowledge only the signing bonus is guaranteed.
