Chastain came in with issues. He was also a walk-on for 2 seasons.

I'm more interested in Bruninga. He's not the only guy under Muller with chronic foot problems.

I hope it's something the coaches, S&C staff and medical staff are examining.

The Williams, Bruninga and Chastain injuries make you wonder back to 98 with Skip and Jamar getting hurt late in the season. Dan likely has the same practice and conditioning tactics as Stallings. Just saying. There’s many studies in the strength and conditioning world that speak to in season practices and the danger of over working the players.

As I recall Skip broke his leg. Not sure over practice softens up bones, but I’m not a doctor like you.....

I do think he missed the last regular season games that year with a stress fracture before he broke his leg.

I could be wrong, but that was my memory of it.

Here are some studies. The top one was done by a colleague of mine back in 1998.

This is my profession, so yeah, I do have a bit of an idea on this stuff.

https://journals.lww.com/acsm-msse/Fulltext/1998/07000/Monitoring_training_in_athletes__with_reference_to.23.aspx

Summary - overtraining increases risks of injury.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17852696

Summary - These findings demonstrate that increases in training load, particularly during the pre-season training phase, increase the odds of injury in collision sport athletes

https://journals.lww.com/nsca-jscr/Fulltext/2012/04000/Relationship_Between_Running_Loads_and_Soft_Tissue.10.aspx

Summary - These results demonstrate that greater amounts of very high–velocity running (i.e., sprinting) are associated with an increased risk of lower body soft-tissue injury, whereas distances covered at low and moderate speeds offer a protective effect against soft-tissue injury. From an injury prevention perspective, these findings provide empirical support for restricting the amount of sprinting performed in preparation for elite team sport competition.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23333045

Summary - In-season, as the amount of 1-2 weekly load or previous to current week increment in load increases, so does the risk of injury in elite Australian footballers. To reduce the risk of injury, derived training and game load values of weekly loads and previous week-to-week load changes should be individually monitored in elite Australian footballers.

Someone please pass this along to John Munn and crew.

KEVIN (humdinger) - Please let me know if you'd like any additional studies on this. Please continue your dissertation on how COVID-19 isn't a big deal and we're all over reacting. Thank you, have a great day.

A colleague? Sure, ok. And there you have it. A plain and simple response with some proof to back it up. Well done, I applaud you.

Can you offer substance like this more often, without the terror-like caricature responses you normally give regarding Redbird basketball?
Those terror-like responses you offer do remind me of our collective social media response to the coronavirus. Say hi to Trey for me.

Skipp had leg problems his entire senior year. You are correct.

I bet Muller was responsible for his teamates that had injuries too. Those guys were never injured before they started playing with him. He also did a terrible job of preparing Tom Richardson to be a head coach. Sad. But at least ratings are up

I might be the worst fan, but at least I didn’t ruin two kids careers by practicing twice a day.

This is exactly right. Dan loves 2 a day practices and even over-doing it during the summer. The part that really upsets me is all the running they had to do when the other teammates got in trouble with the law. And running the stairs really helped these 2 end careers early.

Muller's responsible for Frank leaving, too.

I knew this thread would turn stupid.

If they were out of shape Dan would be criticized for them not working hard enough.

Doesn't really matter what he does.

If something is not done about the Muller issue there won’t be any men’s program left. He’s simply got to go. I have no personal animosity towards Muller; but it’s obvious he’s in over his head or is just plain not head coach material. He himself should recognize that two more years of this will make him untouchable to any other D1 program. Sit him down, work out a deal and move him out while there is still a chance to salvage next season.

Skip had a compound fracture during a game. It was ugly. While not a MD like some of you guys I doubt it was from too much practice.

You do realize, even if he has two more seasons around 10-20, he would still be highly desirable at D1 programs? Like EIU, WIU, maybe SIU-E, other Summit/WAC/OVC/Sun Belt schools would definitely go for someone like Dan. He wouldn’t get a promotion but they would be HC jobs at D1 schools. He would probably go the asst route as it would probably pay 2x or more than most of those jobs.

I was at that game and you could hear the break in the 15th row, made me sick.

I was there. As I remember, he was really never hit. Just came down from going up for a rebound. I was sitting in the second row on the sideline next to where they wheeled him out. Can’t remember, but was that the same year the Bradley cheerleader was injured? I remember as they were wheeling her out, she was cheering as the Bradley band was playing their fight song.
