Just got back from Vegas and was unable to post (long drive).
Very proud of this team. Jefferson played a great management type of game and gives us all hope for next week and beyond.
Great game!!!

Anyone know when they will announce the date and start time of next weeks game.

Imagine they’ll make it official soon.

I saw a few minutes ago that UNI at JMU will be the Friday night game on ESPN2.

To be in the quarters with all the injuries is amazing. Spack and staff have done a phenomenal job game planning etc the last two weeks. Quieted down all the negative chatter about him too. I have always thought he was an excellent coach. Offensive line has been outstanding too when you consider everyone knows Robinson is gonna get the ball! Big underdog in Fargo but you never know!

This is interesting. Every year the FCS playoffs have MVFC teams facing other MVFC teams.
This guarantees that MVFC teams will have to be eliminated. It seems like the playoffs are "rigged".
Are other conferences paired this way? Am I way off base on this?

I actually think we really lucked out with the way the bracket was filled this year. Relying on back up QB and then scheduled against SEMO that seemed to be similar to Central Ark...just gave the team 2 weeks to focus and regroup and excel and win. I am glad that the Redbirds face the Bison on Saturday in the quarterfinals. The Redbird team is ready so let's go for the gold.

I just find it odd that we are in the NCAA quarterfinals for the sport of football (FCS) and I think the football team deserves better recognition. On the same weekend...a re-emerging women's volleyball team won conference and played this weekend as well in the NCAA...and online-wise...the volleyball team just seems to be praised more.

they've actually improved the selection and pairing process over recent years. And it is fairly common for intra-conference games to occur in the round of 16 due to regionalization and limited travel budgets allowed .. the economics have to work.

That we're meeting NDSU in quarters is what it is. But yes, I agree it is unfortunate when same conference teames meet round of 16. They will never pair them in playin games ... and the final 8 is based on seeds. So the round of 16 is mostly likely round for intra-conference games to happen. And regionalization is logically here to stay .. so round of 16 is also most logical ... which really sucked for UNI at SDSU yesterday ... they were both arguably top 8 seed teams.

agreed ... we got 2 teams we matched up real well with ... teams we could run on for sure, despite throwing just 18 times in 2 games compared 111 run plays .. thats an 86% run ratio.

Following our Bison friends on AGS .. they say the Bison defense weakness is actually right up the middle ... their afns were livid about how many rush yards Nicholls St got going right up the middle. More on this later when the NDSU thread gets going.

Great win by the Birds!!

Has anyone heard about how severe the Edgar injury is? I sure hope he can play next week but not sure how severe the concussion was.

while I’d prefer to be in the Big Sky side of the bracket, where Austin Peay beat up on the top seeded BSC team Sac. State & gets to play 2 more BSC teams to get to final if they keep winning. AP won by 4 over SEMO and lost to UCA by 8; it’s just Another year where the day in, day out toll of the MVC is underestimated.

Redbirds have been counted out and overlooked the last three weeks( don’t forget “Last Four In”. Birds have very little to lose, have had a good look at the Bizon and know that ISU played tight and made some unforced errors in the first game. That combination makes the Birds a very dangerous team! Got to win the MVC Tournament to get to the Championship Game - it’s a one bid league😁

I think Big Sky is legit the last 2 seasons. I also think APU is just peaking at perfect time, plus they have a stout defense .. Sac St was pretty good team, just had a bad day in the face of APU having a good day. Any given saturday applies to that game yesterday ... but yes, it sucks for all the "top 8 seed level" MVFC teams to have to play each other in round of 16 and round of 8. This is first time we have to go thru Fargo (i.e. before Natty game) .. SDSU has had to do that 4 times in last 8 years. Its about time we took a frickin turn.
